MenuCustomer Messaging & Content for B2B Startups
Created 11 years ago in Sales & Marketing / Sales & Lead Generation
Help you to clarify what your secret sauce is. We'll discover what hidden traits make your product or service different, then craft messaging and a content strategy to help communicate that uniqueness to the world. If you have customers, I'll explain how to reverse engineer why they buy - the exact language and stories that won their trust. Then we'll craft a marketing- or demand-gen strategy - with specific steps & content recommended - so you can build an engine to increase demand and inquiries for your product. I just helped one firm increase it's inquiry rate from 4,000 to almost 10,000 per month, and to grow to nearly $100MM. This is very doable.

Ok, so in a nutshell here's my secret sauce: I help companies identify THEIR secret sauce - the things that customers love about them - and the magic words & stories that won their best customers. Then I help them build a strategy to get that exact message out to the market and win more customers just like their best ones. This process has allowed me to multiply revenues of 5 companies, and help sell 3. All of these were at or above $1MM in revenue when we started (not including the dozens of clients I have worked with). I am also the author of the Finding the Elusive Killer Value Proposition: The KVP Toolkit, multiple white papers on messaging, positioning, marketing and revenue generation. Steve is knowledgeable, smart, and strategic. He helped us get our MaidPro business going when we were struggling. Importantly, he listened carefully to better understand our particular situation and then provided detailed, specific tactics and guidance. The result was very positive as our customer base grew significantly and sales started to take off.
Of note, his counsel was targeted to our reality rather than a standard 'do more of this and some of that.' Steve stayed in close contact during this period, and after on a regular basis, and our business has continued to grow!

I’ve worked with several national companies in the past and not one of them can hold a candle to Steve's relentless drive and success with the growth of MaidPro. Steve has also helped me and other fellow YP coworkers with growing our own business on a weekly basis. Based on what Steve has accomplished with the huge growth of MaidPro, I would truly recommend Steve Rankel to any company looking to grow and grow fast.
Source: LinkedIn Jared M Hill Apr 8, 2014Steve is an expert in sales AND marketing, and a persuasive speaker. By the time I arrived at MaidPro, he already had tremendous impact on franchisees - many of whom he helped grow significantly. During our work together, we doubled our digital agency revenues and account base on top of launching dozens more franchisees. I learned alot from Steve. It’s a great loss to see him move on.
Source: LinkedIn Martin Abeshaus Apr 8, 2014Steve may have been the most important person to the success of my business that wasn't in my business. I had my MaidPro franchise for just over a year when head office hired Steve to head up the marketing consulting department. Over the next 3+ years, I was very fortunate to develop a close working relationship with Steve, and his advice and support was instrumental in the growth of my business.
From May 2010 to May 2012 - when I was working most heavily with Steve - I saw a 102% growth in clientele, and 121% growth in revenues.
When we first started working together, I took his marketing advice with a heavy dose of skepticism - after all, what does a guy from Boston know about selling cleaning in Calgary, Canada? However, the more I listened to his advice, the more my phone rang. At this point, I no longer question his advice, I just take notes diligently.
I have been both a franchisor and a franchisee, and in all my business experience I can honestly say I have never met anyone with the depth of marketing knowledge - and the insight to properly apply it - as Steve Rankel. I was extremely lucky and privileged to be able to work with Steve for as long as I did, and wish him the very best of luck in his future endeavors.
Source: LinkedIn David Buckler Apr 8, 2014Steve Rankel is remarkably gifted in marketing. Over the last two years we worked together on marketing plans for my business. He helped me execute my plan with precision. During this time my business grew significantly and my average customer spend increased.. Steve helped me market to better clients, which has resulted in significantly reduced customer attrition levels. Besides all that, Steve is also a super-nice guy. I can't say enough good things about Steve Rankel.
Source: LinkedIn Dryw Blanchard Apr 8, 2014I hired Steve to help uncover our messaging strategy. As a start-up, our messaging strategy needed to be strong. We also needed a positioning statement and three to four support points. Steve was able to deliver an amazingly effective messaging strategy and positioning statement.
I have also used Steve as a guest lecturer within my business planning and business strategy classes. He's both knowledgeable and entertaining, which makes for a great learning experience.

Source: LinkedIn David Owen Apr 8, 2014Steve is a top-notch product manager and a pleasure to work with! We worked closely together when he joined Dictaphone, and he quickly got up-to-speed on products. He got a new initiative moving and had everyone excited to contribute. He was so successful he was soon asked to take over several additional products!
