Sarthak Shah

Sarthak is one of the most passionate and intelligent people I have worked with at Microsoft. He has an extremely logical yet creative way of thinking that is disruptive to the status quo - and is aimed at scaling innovation, operations and technology. He has a proven track record of doing this.

Sarthak is a key player (and Lead PM) in the Bing Core Ranking team - which is a powerhouse team of innovation at Bing. I have known Sarthak to be very principled in his approach towards the projects his team invests in. His focus on delivering end user value and his understanding of having a balanced risk/reward portfolio allow him to set his team up for short and long term success.

I have personally learnt a lot from Sarthak - what and why he does things - which has benefitted me in my work.

Sarthak is one of the brightest people I have had the opportunity to work with. He has exceptionally keen intuition about where in extremely complex systems to apply pressure in order to improve them in radical ways. He was able to get a greater than 15 times improvement on the time it took us to train machine learning algorithms. This work, in deep partnership with our research department, had long term impact on our engineering productivity. Many would notch this success on their belt and move on. Sarthak instead almostly immediately began focusing on how to get an additional 40x improvement in training time and wouldn't let anything get in his way.

Sarthak is well liked by his peers, he is very easy to work with and is always open to brainstorming to explore new ideas. The ones that have merit he quickly jumps on to prototype and evaluate.

Any organization would be exceptionally lucky to have Sarthak on their team.

Sarthak is an extremely sharp, self-motivated individual who knows how to get things done. He's easy to work with, outspoken and an overall amazing asset to any company. Would love to work with Sarthak again in the future.
