Working as a Business Developement Manager often put me in a place where I needed to organise and recommend Online Marketing stratergies, far too often I saw 'Marketing managers' and business owners paying 5 - 10 times more than they needed to in the hope that the expensive company would deliver the website or marketing campaign they hoped for, but the project normally went over budget and always over time, sometimes for a simple website it could be as long as 6 months on a project which should take 2 months. I decided to do a Diploma in Project managing to learn how to help these people and the tools I learn't were incredible, before I had even finished the course I saw how so many companies had no idea what is truly required to get the best results for a reasonable price. Project Managing as a career is fairly new in the scheme of things and Online Marketing is also a very young industry, so the importance of it is still little known by many people. However, I recently read that an Online Marketing Project Manager with 5 years experience can expect $800 - $1000 per day on a 6 - 12 month contract, this writer/company certainly understands the value in having a project work out the way it is suppose to, desired outcome + on time + under budget = successful project In summary my experience is drawn from many areas which include very strict teaching and timings from the Australian Defence Force, Formal education from University in Business Management and Project Management, Bootstaping business tactics from building my own online businesses and most importantly real life experince in an Online Marketing Agency working with the stakeholders and optimising the resources.
