MenuI would like to find a CPA to give me a second opinion on my taxes that I've filed for my small business since 2019. How can I find this?
I only want a CPA very familiar with small businesses and preferably used to dealing with health care settings and how to correctly account for PPP funds that were received

Great question! I had a similar one this week after finding out the last person I used didn't submit my 2021 taxes. I would do a quick google search for experts in your area, or ask any friends if they know someone they trust. You can also try turbo tax, but they won't be able to help you write off any home expenses that might be deductible. Good luck!
There are several ways you can find a certified public accountant (CPA) who can give you a second opinion on your taxes for your small business since 2019:
Referrals from family and friends - If you know anyone who runs a small business or has experience with accounting and taxes, ask them for recommendations for a CPA.
Professional associations - You can check the websites of professional associations, such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), to find a list of CPAs in your area. These associations usually have directories that you can search by location or area of expertise.
Online directories - There are several online directories that list CPAs in your area, such as the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) or the CPA Directory.
Search engines - You can use search engines like Google to find CPAs in your area. Simply search for "CPA near me" or "CPA [your city]" to get a list of local options.
When you find a CPA, be sure to ask about their experience working with small businesses and their rates for their services. It's also a good idea to schedule an initial consultation to discuss your needs and get a sense of whether the CPA is a good fit for you.

How do we log the inital funding of a C-Corp with funds from the owner's personal account in Quickbooks?
When you open a bank account for your corporation, you'll need to make an initial deposit with your personal funds. A shareholder's initial contribution can be recorded as either debt or equity. If you want to record the initial contribution as equity, you would debit cash for the amount deposited into the bank account, and credit an equity account, such as “shareholder’s equity” or “capital stock”. Alternatively, you can record the deposit as a shareholder loan. Debit cash for the amount deposited, and credit a liability account, such as “Loans from Shareholder”. There are also methods to bifurcate the contribution by recording a contribution as a combination of debt or equity.JK

Are promissory note installments considered capital gains? I'm selling my website and would love insight on the financial details.
Yo are talking apples and oranges. Capital gains are related to your basis not the form of payment. If you are a cash basis taxpayer, you pay taxes when you receive cash beyond your basis. We can help you with structure.JH

What is the ideal percentage of revenue you should apply to a marketing budget for a new business?
I think differently about this, because of two reasons: 1) I've always (and only) been involved in bootstrapped startups; and 2) I've been lucky that those startups grew organically and fast (enough) which minimized our need on marketing spend. Instead of deciding on a specific budget for this, I would instead look at your current priorities (in terms of budgeting and re-investment into your team): 1. Build a great team. 2. Build a great product. 3. Craft incredible customer experiences. 4. Spend money on marketing. If you've already hit all 3 top priorities and you can't reinvest any further into those, then you should start spending money on marketing. If you don't have revenues today and you are hoping to generate revenues through marketing spend, you're on slippery slope (says the bootstrapper). Whilst not wrong, this is tricky and you'd need to take a realistic look at your customer acquisition cost (CAC) and how much you can invest into acquiring new customers.AP

Should I collect NY sales taxes for online marketing and web development services offered to NY clients?
Generally, the transfer of tangible personal property is the trigger for a sales tax event. In this case, it may be necessary to review the various aspects of a typical transaction to determine if any portion thereof would be subject to sales tax. However, generally speaking, receipts from the sale “Marketing”, "Media Placement Services" and "Web Site Networks" are not subject to State or local sales and compensating use taxes provided your organization does not sell or otherwise transfer any tangible personal property to its clients in conjunction with these activities or perform any services otherwise taxable under Section 1105(c) of the Tax Law in conjunction with these activities. Is it possible to start a Social Media Marketing Agency with not much experience in Social Media and not much money?
I have to ask why you would start an agency in an area you don't have much experience in. Perhaps you'd be better off getting at least a little experience first?AV
