Join local VA groups, check in with senior and community centers- sponsor events and actually workshops (everyone loves speaking, but most people love seeing company's doing things more than speaking). Getting involved looks good and makes you trustworthy beyond just good customer service. As far as data services are concerned, that's a valuable service! And a lot of individuals who own and run companies often time forget or misunderstand that- educate them. Give them the understanding of these services- without selling to them, and them come around to the crux of the issues with these service: hiring professionals to do it saves them time and money, but hiring professionals who love it does that and provides high quality!

I would seriously consider launching a blog and posting content of the same type to the blog, in abundance. Then add a popup box to the blog to collect email addresses. Post daily blog posts about topics related to your blog and your newsletter. If you do this consistently, over time, you will build up traffic to your blog and also get people entering their email into your popup. This is the free way to do it...

I am not 100%sure what you mean by by no platform, but I will answer as best I can. If you have a website (again I am not sure if this is what you mean by no platform), you could have an email signup list. What I see a lot of professionals do is give away something as an incentive like an ebook. If you have something that you can give away, people would need to enter their email address so it gets emailed to them and voila, you start building your list. There are several ways to leverage an existing email list to get more email addresses and/or customers. First, I'd make sure that your emails to these folks are optimized for sharing. Include a call-to-action at the bottom to share the content/product/offer with their friends by posting to social media or forwarding your email. A referral program is another great way to incentivize people to share. It's tough to give more specific suggestions without knowing what type of product/service you have and who your audience is, but try to think about how you can provide additional value to your customers if they sign up X new customers or share your content with X friends. If you're using content marketing as a way of attracting leads, you can run a test where - instead of filling out a form to download your content - they have to share the content on social to unlock the download (called "share-gating"). If you do set up a referral program, using Custom Audiences on Facebook is a great way to target ads to your existing customer base - use this and email marketing as your channels for growing awareness of your referral program.
