This topic can be very complex, as experiences vary a lot from person to person, and the definition of "successful" can be a moving target. However, there are a few frameworks that you can implement and move towards achieving success. I like to use the PREMISE-VISION-PURPOSE-STRATEGY framework, about which you can learn more below:
1. Start with a PREMISE
What are your beliefs around the idea of success? Do you believe that you have to work long hours to be successful? Is success tied to any amount of money (yearly income or net worth)? Do you believe that only after a number of years of experience you can be successful? Ponder your premises and keep what makes the most sense to you.
2. Define your VISION
What exactly does success mean to you? Is it having your own office with dozens of employees? Is it a nice home? Maybe an educational title?
The idea here is to create a (few) picture(s) that will help you connect with the idea of the meaning of success to you and how you will know that you have become successful.
3. Think about your PURPOSES
Why do you want to follow the route of success? Why is it worth the effort? Is it because you want to have more quality of life? Maybe to achieve a better life-work balance?
4. Your STRATEGY
With the previous topics defined, determine what are the steps that you need to take to implement them. Define milestones, timelines and everything that you can.
For instance, let's suppose that you've defined (your premise) that to be successul you have to be able to enjoy the money that you have earned and have enough time to do so. Your vision of success puts you in the role of the head of an office with assistants working for you, and your clients recognizing you for your high level of professionalism, which ultimately gives you the power to choose your customers and even turn down some offers. The purpose of doing so is to travel the (post-COVID) world to attend business conferences in fancy hotels, and have a great quality of life, with time to enjoy your meals, engage in personal activities, connecting with people who are important to you, etc.
With that in mind, your strategy goes through the decision of owning a business or achieving a high-ranking position in a corporation, investing and managing your money well, committing to personal activities (non-work), etc; when will you achieve that level of success. Let's go one step further and suppose that you decide to own a business, and reach that level of success in 5 years from now. What type of business are you going to own? Do you have a business plan? Maybe in the first and second years you can work long hours to create the foundation your business needs to take off and take it easier in the following years? What do you need to do today to help you create a successful business? Do you need to learn new skills? Do you need funding? These are just some questions, of course. Keep track of your milestones and timelines to ensure that you are on the right path to success.
This preparation work can be long (from weeks to months, depending on where you're at now), but very inspiring and pleasurable at the same time. You will learn a lot about yourself. You will have to learn what successful people who inspire you do or have done to achieve success. The truth is that there's no right answer, and only you can decide what works for you.

The very first and last thing I do every day is read 1 page about positive attitude. It's small enough to never have an excuse for skipping, but done at those 2 critical moments... it has had a dramatic effect on setting the tone of my daily life.
My favorite book is Jeffrey Gitomer's "Little Gold Book of Yes! Attitude". It changed my attitude and my life.
Can you condition a journey? No, you cannot. It had to be made by the individual himself. Success is not something you become and be, it is something that is a process or progress towards a worthy ideal. I define it here as a journey of something that is ongoing, that is never finished. But there are methods to “condition” your success like creating a subconscious mind map, by giving your brain the tools necessary to turn that vision into reality or committing to overcoming the negativity, but these are only possible if you are ready to take the journey.

My honest answer is that I read the bible every day and it gives me courage to proceed even when times are dark and scary. I'm not promoting religion but simply saying what is true for me.

Hi! In order to succeed you have to truly believe you are already a successful person. You attract what you are so if you're feeling unlucky or unsuccessful, you'll be just that.
Life is about manifesting what you want. There are specific ways to help train your mind to gain control and redirect the aspects of your life.

Seems to me that versatility is actually your greater selling point. Yes, you could concentrate on 1 niche problem that you solve over and over again for various clients. Advantage: That streamlined approach would be efficient in terms of presentation and actual work load. Disadvantage: By promoting a very specific offering, you may be introducing yourself as the wrong tool for the job ... for most potential clients. If I stumble across you and find a landing page that stresses your ability to solve Problem X while I am dealing with Problem Y, then I assume you're less relevant than you might be. That does a disservice to your diverse skill set. You can marry the best of both worlds. Here's what I'd suggest. Clients will discover you both passively and as a result of active outreach. So 1. For your active marketing efforts, identify prospects where the client really needs you for Problem X, in which you're specializing. Introduce yourself as a specialist in Problem X (which is true). 2. For your more passive, less keyword-targeted online footprint, showcase your versatility rather than your specialization. That's also true. This way, you'll seem like a better fit for a wider group of potential clients. Instead of writing you off as a specialist, they'll consider engaging you as an IT "renaissance man". Narrow the focus of your presentation when you have narrowed your demographic. Widen that focus when the demographic is wider.JP

Gig economy is taking over industries and consulting is no exception. Global management consulting industry is said to be worth around USD 260 - 300+ billion, depending on how much we blur the line between management and technology consulting. Another research says that 20% of the industry works in micro-consulting firms (freelancers included). If we ponder it by the difference in average contract size, we get approximately USD 20-50 billion. Of course, the trend can be easily observed in a rapid growth of freelancing consulting sites (e.g. as this one). My personal opinion is that it's not really an opinion, but rather a fact. How can I make a small, profitable business on Wordpress?
It sounds like you have plenty of skills to get started now. There's no need to keep re-training in different areas when you have experience to get started today. My suggestion would be to pick a niche and try and become the go-to guy in that particular niche. Let's say, for example, you are interested in men's fashion. You have experience in creating Wordpress ecommerce sites. You could call up maybe 10-15 of the local businesses in that niche in your local city/state and offer to make their website and get them in on a set-up fee and then a monthly maintenance retainer. This approach would be lower stress (because it's something you're interested in) and also because you could create a methodical framework that you could apply to other businesses in that niche. That's just one idea. Second idea - create a course on WooCommerce development and put it on Udemy (or Coursera etc). Note down 10 of the biggest obstacles you've had to overcome when building sites for friends and family and then note down 10 of the most important considerations people should consider before people get started. Now you've got 20 video lessons for your course. Charge for the course on Udemy or use it as a marketing tool to get more b2b development work. Idea 3: Go make money on freelancer.com, peopleperhour etc. Perhaps you've tried this already? Skills like yours are in demand on those platforms. Idea 4: Take the things I noted in the second idea above, and turn it into a handbook. Sell that book via Amazon. Idea 5: Go on Tweetdeck. Create a column that searches for people who are using keywords like "Wordpress woocommerce issue" "Wordpress woocommerce help" "WordPress woocommerce problem". Give them your clairty.fm link and tell them you'd be happy to have 5 minute discussion to see if you could help them resolve their problem. Idea 6: Find 10 major theme development companies. Sign up to their help or support forums. Do a similar thing to what's noted above on Twitter and offer to have a quick call via clarity.fm to see if you could help. Idea 7: Go down the route of finding existing Wordpress/Woocommerce blogs. Write posts for them about specific WooCommerce issues, problem solving or project management tips. Do this with the aim of improving your inbound consulting gigs. Idea 8: Do the exact opposite of whatever those friends are telling you. Idea 9: With your skills you could easily start a dropshipping company. I won't go into all the details here but just start looking at sites like Clickbank or Product Hunt to get a feel for something you're interested in. Can Canadian consultants work as independent contractors in the states without a work permit?
I'm not an immigration attorney, but I have made trips to Canada to find clients, and this is my understanding of the laws. If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you do not need a visa to come to the United States as long as you will not actually be working and receiving payment from U.S. businesses or employers while in the U.S. For example, you can visit the U.S. to attend trade shows, meetings, conferences, etc. without a visa.
