There are many details that this question is missing however, from what I have gathered and based on the growth of Hela Job (my startup), we have mainly used automation tools to our advantage and generated leads to pitch our service or schedule a demo where we sale our services. I can definitely help, let's create waves together. Request a call now: https://clarity.fm/antypas.
I would need a lot more details to properly help you with this, but in general the first stage is to understand who your target market is - this isn't always who will use the software, but who will be paying for it. Depending on who this is, you would decide how to target them. For example, if it is the COO of the hospital, then you would try find a mutual connection, get an intro, and do a demo (cold emails probably won't work).
If, on the other hand, the person paying is the patient, then you would go about it entirely differently.
The method also depends on the country, type of service, cost of service etc.
Bottom line: I'm happy to help, but you need to provide a lot more details.
Good luck
I've successfully helped over 350 entrepreneurs, startups and businesses, and I would be happy to help you. After scheduling a call, please send me some background information so that I can prepare in advance - thus giving you maximum value for your money. Take a look at the great reviews I’ve received: https://clarity.fm/assafben-david
Sounds like you need a framework for segmenting the healthcare market, eg do you wan to target the delivery system, payers, government entities, vendors, direct to consumer, risk bearing entities, etc. Is this a non-emergency transportation service? Does this address social determinants of health (SDOH)? Depending on these answers and the product there are various customers. Happy to discuss more if you like.

Our target customer is hospital systems for our remote monitoring software, with many interested in pipeline, how do we close short term paid pilots?
You need to fully understand marketing to hospitals, the FDA, and how clinical trial management works. I would highly recommend finding a local friend/advisor/investor/etc. who is a doctor involved in clinical trials or better yet a clinical trial manager. There are a lot of hoops to get a clinical trial underway and you want to make this as easy as possible and put on paper and give to prospects up front how you have already cleared all the paths and made this a low risk trial. Of particular concern will be your strategies around HIPAA compliance and how your store patient identified and de-identified data. How does what you are doing compare to software systems that are already FDA approved? Do you interface with all the main electronic heard record and other systems? I have some friends in the clinical informatics space. These are the types of people you need on your advisory board. Feel free to call or contact me.JB

Does it make sense to accept equity plus a contract specifying payment for services when the company is profitable?
Would you hand over 100% of your paycheck to your investment advisor? In this scenario, you're being asked to invest your time instead of money but really, it's the same question. I've done several of these types of 'time investments.' Most have not worked out, one might. I'm not too worried though because most of my time that was invested was 'extra time.' I basically traded some of my leisure for an opportunity to be part of something that might hit pay dirt. These deals can be fun, but I don't think it makes sense for most people to work full time on them. It would be like putting 100% of your paycheck into your retirement account and finding money for groceries elsewhere but with a lot lower chance of paying out one day. DaveDC

We're creating a mission-critical hospital communication system. Given its our startup's 1st app, how do we convince Execs we'll be around in 12mths?
I would disagree with Laura's advice about allowing your communication system to operate in-tandem to what you're trying to displace. Hospital staff have very little appetite to learn or adopt new systems, especially for mission-critical work. I also disagree with the idea that your competitors are an ideal partner. They will force you to adopt their processes and live by their rules, severely limiting your upside and will often waste your time with misleading signals of interest. Has this objection cost you any sales yet? If not, don't over-think this. Is it an objection that you've just been given and you're about to close or lose a sale over? If that's the case, call me or someone and talk through this right now. Otherwise, focus on ensuring that the client is totally bought-in to using your software (trial or otherwise). If this issue comes up, you have a number of ways to address this: Generally speaking, even with mission-critical software, the due diligence doesn't include financial analysis of the vendor. So just project the confidence that you *will* be around and you should be fine. If not, there are actual contract-specific language that you could use to address this but you really should avoid that at this stage.TW

How do you market to doctors digitally? What has been the best strategy? What are the best digital channels?
Social media channels like facebook are a great way for doctors to market digitally and cheaply. I recommend "humanizing" the doctors practice in a series of posts so clients and potential clients already feel like they know the staff and that they are just "going to some doctor" Consistant good solid posts can instantly boost credibility and increase the customer base. Plus building an audience is a great way to market for the long term. I would love to help here if you need any help along the way I'm just one phone call away always.JH

I want to create a new wearable/portable healthcare device. What area of medicine should I focus on?
Focus on apps/devices that make it easier to manage chronic diseases--asthma, COPD, diabetes, or other issues like infertility. Managing these ailments can be cumbersome, and most patients fail at managing them. This is where mobile devices can offer the most benefit.CP
