MenuI have a biz directory app with traffic. I need to revamp and monetize it while I have this traffic. How can I get an MVC out quickly?
Answers
It's good that your app has some traction. I have a classifieds ad site too (targeting Canadian market). Initially I was wondering if I should use WordPress or created it using MVC I picked the MVC approach. The thing is when doing the MVC you have to implement most of the functionality yourself (or your dev) which is time consuming.
In hindsight I think I should've used WordPress and then bought some plugins to add to the missing functionality.
I'd say do the incremental improvement approach because the things you listed would take time & cost a lot.
By 7.9M do you mean 7.9MB ? The app can be 50MB in size but what is important is what the HTML it is generating.
About the monetization you can do some contextual ads and some affiliate links.
You have to be specific when talking to your dev what you mean by analytics. Say when a user does this I want this and that to happen. You can list some scenarios and how the reports should look like.
Good luck!

How can we generate good B2B sales leads?
As your targets are SME companies with 3 or more developers you can use LinkedIn premium search for finding the list of top executives of the companies and send them in-mails for partnership! Another great source for you could be outsourcing websites where US development companies are represented and do testing for their clients periodically for various projects! Please call for more detailed information of the best B2B sources for you! I have got also some availability to the actual lead generation job for you with a reasonable hourly rate. I have been working as a sales manager in this industry for over 4 years and have got large databases of B2B clients that you will be interested in!AA

What are the pros/ cons of outsourcing app development vs. building an internal development team? Would this affect the value of the company?
Don't Outsource. Period. While there are big drawbacks with outsourcing related to building internal expertise the real reason I would never outsource at your stage is the need for speed and flexibility. Per your description, you are an early stage start-up with a MVP that is gathering data. Congratulations as that is a big accomplishment! However, you inevitably have a ton to learn about what your prospective customers need most and what customers deserve your attention most. The means you will be tweaking your product constantly for the foreseeable future and having to submit ideas to an outsourced team, make sure they understand what you want, wait for the new feature to be scheduled, etc is just too slow and too expensive. You should have your developers literally sitting next to you and (if you have one besides yourself) your product person so you can quickly and constantly share information. Good luck! You are in for a fun ride...GH

I'm looking for a great full service app design firm to build my app and help with all design, branding, development, etc. Anyone know any good ones?
Yes. Who I would recommend would depend on what you'd like to see happen. Are you building only for iOS, or only for Android, or both? Will you have a bunch of content/stuff in your app or just a little? Are you thinking game or non-game app? Do you already have a big fanbase or would you be trying to build one while building the app? It's easy to save a bunch of money on mobile development if you know how, and even easier to overspend. Making an app can be a ton of fun or a major headache. I'd recommend the fun. So if you want an outside perspective, give me a ring.AC

How do I grow from a one man startup when I don't have the money to hire & don't have skills or time for investors?
Stop thinking you don't have the skills to do something. You can learn anything if you decide to, but assuming up front that you can't (forever) is dangerous. my2centsDM

I have a self-funded prototype app, which experts say has massive potential. Shall I continue self funding or present it to investors?
As a rule of thumb it's better for you to continue investing yourself as far as you can. The reasons are: 1. The later you raise money, the more your business should be worth 2. You are able to retain more control of the business 3. Fundraising is very time consuming and will divert your attention from making your business work Having said that, if you're getting to the point where you can't continue to move the business forward (or at a good pace) without money then it's worth looking to fundraise.
