MenuWhat's the best way to increase my conversion rate on Clarity?
I've been on the Clarity platform and I have very good reviews but I'd like to get a lot more calls and help a lot more people (and make more money). I'm at 13% right now. Is that about average? What techniques should I be using to increase my conversion rate? I'm not going to worry too much about getting more people to see my profile if my conversion rate is poor.
Thanks

I think 13% is good - that's what mine is too. I think the bigger issue is getting more people to your profile page. It doesn't matter how good your page conversion is if you don't send people to it from your website or email marketing efforts. it also depends on your per minute rate.
The only specimen you ought to measure your profile against is your own.
When you stop to think about it, you'll realize that comparing conversion rates across different kinds of profiles is misguided.
Supposing, just for the sake of argument, that 95% of Clarity.fm visitors are seeking advice about government grants whereas your area of expertise is government contracts, then your profile might receive a large number of visitors searching for "government" but see fewer call requests than profiles of experts in that unrelated area.
Is your area of expertise something sought out by 30% of Clarity.fm visitors or by 6%?
Are you 1 expert out of 1 for this topic, or are you 1 expert out of 50?
Do you respond frequently in the "Answers" section to help people in off-topic areas? I do. And that certainly dilutes my conversion rate! If I were more stingy with my responses and only showed up when the domain industry or brand names were the topic under discussion, then I'd have fewer visitors, which would lower the denominator and boost my conversion rate ... even though the number of calls would not have changed!
So much for comparing your conversion rate with that of other profiles. Also, the conversion rate is -- depending on how you look at it -- the wrong metric. If I cared about my conversion percentage, then I wouldn't be writing this sentence.
But there are some things you can try to boost conversion numbers (as opposed to conversion rates). Traffic volumes here tend to be low; so it's hard to do any controlled A/B testing. So it will be difficult to measure and validate any changes you implement.
The obvious answer is to look at rewriting your profile, since verbiage is the one variable you can change. I need to rewrite my own. Actually, short-form copy writing and editing are areas where I have professional experience and plan on offering services during 2015. So if you want some help or feedback on revision, just ask.
I agree with Rich that 13% is pretty good. At this point I'd focus more on how to get more people to your page with links in your other social profiles, writing guest posts with a link to Clarity, or something else.

How can I go about finding a business partner for my startup?
Hello! Aside from the typical website platforms, I would recommend using Twitter's hashtags and user handles. Try following and using the ones that your potential prospect or otherwise ideal partners would be following and start sharing about your work, your progress, and outreach for a potential partner. If possible try to be local when doing so. But obviously, some to use include Startups.co, Basecamp, Inc 500, yesPHX, BetaBulls, MPV, Lean Startup, Lean Methodologies, TechCrunch, etc.HV

How Google can index/reindex my page as quickest as possible, as and where there is some change happen in the content?
Hi, Your site is a Q&A so I presume that every time someone create a new Question it will generate a unique URL for that. Indepentend if you have or not an answer you want Google to crawl and index your site as quick as possible to start to analyzing the new page and bring traffic to it. The best way to expedite this "re-crawling" is to use a ping service that you can trigger after your user answer the question. PS: If you site is updated frequently you shouldn't have a problem with crawling, because Google usually identify this type of website really quick. Drop me a call is free for this week. Best,YM

How does my startup hire an affordable marketing expert?
I don't even know how to answer this. Do you know what the difference between McDonalds and the local burger joint that is filing for bankruptcy is? It's marketing. McDonalds is worth billions of dollars not because of the quality of their food, but because of their marketing. Marketing is not an expense. A janitor is an expense. Your computer is an expense. Marketing is an INVESTMENT. Would you shop around for the cheapest heart surgeon? Of course not. Because you would likely end up dead. Why, then, do you shop around for a marketing expert? Are you ok with your company going bankrupt? Is that worth the small savings to you? No. Of course not. Hire someone who is good at marketing. Hire someone who knows what they are doing. Buy yourself a Lamborghini with your profit the first quarter. Get a beach house in hawaii. Grab a yacht. Or, try to find your business the cheapest heart surgeon you can and then spend the next five years wondering why such a solid business idea failed in the first 6 months. I'm passionate about this exact topic because all those statistics you read about "70% of businesses failing in two years" are solely because of horrible marketing.AM

What are average profit margins in Ice Cream store business?
Hi! I am owner of an ice crean chain with 45 stores in Chile. We have stores in shopping centers, streets and also karts that you can put in events and parks. The average cost margin of ice cream (depends on the amount of materials you use in producing the ice cream) is around 40%. This is italian gelatto where you serve the ice cream without a specific measurement so your costs can vary due to the size of each portion you serve. About the brand you should focus on your unique value proposition and what kind of ice cream you are selling. We import the pastry from Italy and the fruits and milk from our country. Your ROI depends on your sales price and costs. If you focus on high market ice cream you can charge high and keep costs down.MF

How did Snapchat boast a solid user base within a short period of time, compared to Facebook and Twitter?
I've been in the picture messaging space for a while now with my apps Lutebox (voted one of London's top ten most loved apps) and now Click Messenger. I've written a few articles about the space including a recent post about the Future of Mobile Messaging. Snapchat started out as an app called Picaboo, which pretty much did what it does now (prior to the latest update with chat and video calling). They quickly rebranded but saw a little uptake in user numbers and had quite low downloads for several months. Then around Christmas 2011 one of the founders' mom had told her friend about the app, who told her kid and her kid basically then spread the word throughout their high school in L.A. That was what really blew up their download numbers as it spread across teenagers at local high schools. As far as I know they didn't advertise in the early days, relied solely on word of mouth. Also it is assumed that they have a solid user base. Comparatively speaking, their user base may be in the low tens of millions, which may a great base of users, but nowhere even close to being as big as Facebook or Twitter. I'd be happy to speak about this in more detail or about the picture messaging landscape and what I believe to be the future of mobile messaging.AA
