MenuHow is the accelerometer on lg's Optimus 34c? Will our pedometer work on this one?
We are starting android development for our mhealth platform and I was super thrilled to see this 29$ android at walmart, it has kitkat 4.4 Bluetooth 4.0 , and specs mention accelerometer, but will we be able to code our pedometer to work decently on this one?

Android 4.4 KitKat contains contains APIs which handle the more "difficult"/low level programming of a step counter for you (assuming the phone in question has that hardware). From what I have read about the Optimus 34C, it doesn't seem to come with that step counter hardware so you will indeed need to code it yourself.
I am currently working on an app for Android Wear in which I am using the accelerometer of the watch to trigger a method. Since I found that programming this accelerometer code wasn't too difficult and, in my experience, my watch's pedometer is rather accurate, I think you will probably be able to code a decent pedometer for your app on your own.

I am interested in reskinning apps for Android.Does reskinning the available source codes just add to the numerous existing similar apps?
Not necessarily, if your app can potentially serve different markets with different demographics, it may be beneficial to market to each market individually. Since app interface often serves as a marketing tool, it is important that it resonates with its target audience. This means having a different interface for the same set of functionalities depending on your audience may be prudent. On the contrary, if you are simply trying to create variations of the app for a single market by short-cutting user testing and hoping that one of the interfaces will generate more interest, you are then over-saturating the market and may actually hurt yourself by creating unnecessary confusion for your users. I would suggest looking into what other apps your target audience is using and working off that to create a single user experience which would resonate with them. Is there anywhere I can trade my mobile & web UI/UX design service for web and mobile dev help?
I value your request for help. However, my experience is that a straight barter of design services for development services is not necessarily equitable, as design is most often a fraction of overall development effort and cost, albeit, design is critical and sets the stage for success in a project. At DVmobile, we believe that the first 15% of a project (including design) is what make the remaining 85% of a project successful. Bartering often implies very low revenue potential in the relationship. It begs for similar circumstances in your partner, a willingness to work for services vs. cash payment. My recommendation would be for you to attract multiple partners that can leverage your services on a part-time contract basis. If you are attracting customers with your design skills, many development firms, including mine, are willing to do subcontract or partner based work. It’s usually easier to market great design skills in today’s market, than coding skills.SD

Which platform can I raise funding on for a medical portal where you can upload your medical documents and make medical reports?
Hi, Platform Target: High Priority - Web Medium Priority- Android Low Priority - Apple, Windows ------------------------------------------- Medical Portal is very sensitive business, for that purpose the interaction of the user and understanding of the graphical presentation need to set on single page. Website is perfection platform that will give you that kind of flexibility of perfect interaction with the user. You can keep same functionality on Android and other targeted platforms, but you have to keep some basic User interaction functionality in that app. E.g > Medical information tips > get daily basis new updates > User interaction and fulfillment info. as per demand just like feedback. > and some more interaction that keep engage the user with app. Thank you!VM

What is the TAM for a mobile app on iOS and android separately as well as together? I've researched and found mixed stats.
The total addressable market is a function of the app's value proposition itself. Given that photos and messaging are now simply core features of pretty much any mobile-native application, you could cite every mobile user as your potential TAM. Anyone telling you that TAM is a useful point for you to address in pitching early-stage mobile investors for this concept is giving you very bad advice. What I would recommend you spend ALL of your time on is why you can dislodge users from the incumbents and why there is a specific unaddressed consumer pain that will gravitate them towards your app. I'm happy to help you frame your pitch in a call but call or no call, TAM as a specific data point is not something to concern yourself with here.TW

We are moving into android development with our mhealth platform, what are our options for testing environments?
I think there are two very different things you want. One is test our application on a great number of devices and Android version combinations. This is to make sure your app runs smoothly on all the environments you need. The other is a way to collect usage data, core dumps and physicians feedback. The first thing can be accomplished with a device farm and automated tests. Xamarin Test Cloud ( http://xamarin.com/test-cloud ) allows you to to automated testing on about 600 devices. There are other providers but this is the one that I would use and trust the provider. The second thing can be accomplished using many tools, even the ones you already use, e.g., trello or slack, for feedbacks. I have seen many companies go for beta releases on Google Play linked with private Google+ groups for beta testers. For crash dumps and usage monitoring you can use Twitter Clashalytics ( http://try.crashlytics.com/ ) or other tools like: * http://www.mobtest.com/ * http://ubertesters.com/ * http://hockeyapp.net/ * http://www.centercode.com/AM
