Paul Culmsee Managing Partner at Seven Sigma

Perth Area, Australia
I am a management consultant and author of the Axiom award winning book "The Heretics Guide to Best Practices: The Reality of Managing Complex Problems in Organsiations". Started out life as an IT geek for the better part of fifteen years before moving into Information Architecture, Complex Problems Solving, Facilitation and Dialogue Mapping. Still have the geek side of my brain there, but have spent the last few years in many interesting projects in an organisational development and sensemaking role. Since 2007, I've been the owner of a consultancy called Seven Sigma (www.sevensigma.com.au) and the author of the Cleverworkarounds (www.cleverworkarounds.com) blog. Also a partner of Inovus (www.inovus.com.au) - a consultancy that combines some…

Paul has an innate ability to reduce the complex and chaotic to the simple and the usable. Using his exceptional skills in Dialogue Mapping and an impressive breadth of knowledge in systems and design, he creates a platform and an environment in which organisations can bring their people to new and shared understandings of the difficult problems they confront.

Paul is an exceptional communicator, evidenced clearly in his blog at http://www.cleverworkarounds.com Paul's message is delivered with humour, and his style and subject matter are enjoyable for both the technical and non-technical reader.

Paul is also an engaging facilitator, trainer and presenter, bringing a wonderful sense of fun and collaborative learning to his sessions.

Paul is a person of high integrity and shares his knowledge and learnings generously. Paul and his team were a delight to work with and hope to work with them again in the future.

"I first met Paul on the Stirling Alliance through a series of Workshops utilising Dialogue Mapping.

Paul's use of this novel facilitation method allows groups to 'make sense' of obscure situations, clouded in uncertainty and complexity. He is highly skilled at it and I was particularly impressed by his ability to deal with the Participants confusion and irritability. The production of the 'Visual Map' as an output of the Workshop provides a great insight into the 'Wicked Problem' and the realtionships between elements of the emerging sytem.

It's great working with Paul as he is highly enthusiastic and energetic, qualities required by clients seeking collaboration.....keep it up Paul. "

For some time now I've been following Paul's blog, Clever Workarounds – an eclectic mix of posts on matters both business and technology related, mainly SharePoint-flavoured. Paul's a generous, thoughtful and thought-provoking writer, and I never visit http://www.cleverworkarounds.com without being entertained and informed – often materially assisted too.
Recently I had the pleasure of attending one of Paul's presentations and can now not only recommend him as a great writer, but as an equally talented speaker. A natural and engaging presenter, who really knows how to hold an audience's interest, Paul makes potentially complex and esoteric subjects easy to comprehend, practical and directly applicable to real world business problems. Anyone with an opportunity to hear Paul speak or attend one of his practical, in-depth workshops is advised to jump at the chance.

Paul is very knowledgeable on all things SharePoint and business solutions. Paul demonstrated patience in passing on knowledge and skills, and provided not just the how but the why. Paul gets along with his colleagues and is a great team member. I would recommend Paul for any work on SharePoint and business process solutions.

Paul was an absolute pleasure to work with. During my time providing advisory services to GRD Minproc, Paul and I were allocated to the same project team. Our project involved the design and implementation of an ECM solution.

Pauls passion and expertise enabled him to communicate effectively with engineering managers and administrative staff alike.

Paul is very professional, extremely knowledgeable about SharePoint and ECM, and generally passionate about technology. I do not hesitate to recommend him. Nor will I hesitate to work with him again.
