To me, the best use of the knowledge we gain from reading is how it transforms our actual communication and connection with the world.
While people often talk about reading for big business strategies or high-level problem-solving, the day-to-day value happens in our language and social lives:
Mastering expression: Books teach us how to build coherent sentences, structure our thoughts properly, and paint descriptive scenes.
Expanding vocabulary: We naturally collect new vocabulary from stories and articles that we can actively use in our own writing and speech.
Connecting with others: Reading gives us common interests and reference points, making it much easier to start a conversation, keep a discussion going, and engage with people on a deeper level.
Reading isn't just about absorbing data to fix a problem—it’s about sharpening the tools we use every single day to express ourselves and relate to others.
I'd love to know-what type of books have shaped your own writing or voice the most?
