President and founder Michelle Laseman launched Beacon Bookkeeping in 2015 after she recognized a need to help small business owners manage and understand their finances. In Michelle’s prior professional role as a Business and Commercial Banker for seven years, she witnessed dozens of small business owners who struggled to effectively manage their finances. Many of the financial statements she reviewed were incomplete, inaccurate, or at worst, just plain incorrect. It was clear that even when companies were enlisting the help of a bookkeeper, often their financial records were still poorly managed. Understanding the importance of accurate and timely financial management for small businesses, Michelle decided she would form a bookkeeping company that held itself to a higher standard than she currently saw in the marketplace. Her goal was to ensure that no business suffers because of poor accounting and bookkeeping. Michelle is Quickbooks™ Pro-Certified and has completed the Penn Foster bookkeeping certification program. She has an extensive background in business and financial management, and works very closely with many well-known CPA’s to ensure her books are of the highest quality.
