Matthew provided huge value based on his experiences as a CEO. He was very thoughtful and candid, and provided many actionable insights (including one very big one that drastically simplifies our minimum viable product). On top of that he is a nice guy that you'd love to grab a beer with someday. Thanks Matthew!

I feel that my time with Matt was well spent and very productive. I'll continue to refer to Matt for his expertise within brand identity and content marketing.

I met Matt in 2001 while interviewing with a national retail group for a position in sales. He was Regional Manager for Houston and Dallas and hired me on the spot (which suggest his IQ could be well over 160 “Exceptionally Gifted”). I thought I was getting a job; in retrospect it was more like a mentorship – transforming the way I approach conflict and foster interpersonal relationships. At the monthly meetings which consisted of associates and managers across the district, I got to see Matt’s unique way of interacting with the various personalities we had in the company. One of his gifts is understanding what motivates a person and tailoring his management style to match. Matt instinctively knew my ego and had a way of leading and teaching that fanned a burning desire to succeed. I have worked for many people in my 35 years - bosses, managers, principals, business owners, directors, but only one leader.

I've worked with Matthew for 17 years following him across three different companies in three states! I began learning from him when we were Store Managers in the same district in retail. When I was first promoted to Store Manager he immediately began mentoring me and making sure I was doing the best job I could. As peers, there was no requirement for him to do so, but rather it seemed leadership and teaching simply came natural to him and was something he enjoyed. Matthew moved on to a new company and received several promotions in a short amount of time. I am grateful that he remembered me and offered me a great job with the new company. As my supervisor his intense mentoring and leadership resulted in very successful results. I learned to trust him implicitly and by observing his instinctive, hands on style, was able to create my own style which continues to serve me today. Most recently I have the pleasure of working for him in bringing solid business processes and amazing results to a non-profit educational company.

Aside from his leadership, Matthews vision has always set him apart from my other supervisors. He is able to paint a detailed picture of desired outcomes and then line up specific actions to get there - and also has an ability to see trouble ahead and avoid it. If Matthew tells you he is uneasy about a decision or thought process you better rethink it, his forewarning has proven correct nearly 100% of the time!

I had the privilege of working with Matthew over a span of several years in two separate companies. During that time, Matthew continuously earned increased responsibilities in leadership positions. His experience in sales, marketing, and operations make him an excellent choice for any company interested in streamlining costs, increasing profits, and aligning strategy with results.
His insights, judgment, and ability to manage complex problems, exceed expectations on every occasion. Matthew’s desire to challenge and develop people, lead teams, and achieve positive results make him a shining star. His passions are in growing leaders, seeing ideas realized, aligning objectives with strategy, and providing structure for companies to soar. Matthew’s humility is unmatched. He is a turnaround expert and would be an asset to any individual, or organization. I recommend Matthew Douzart highly.

I've had the pleasure to work closely with Matthew on many key marketing campaigns as well as four separate eCommerce / eLearning websites. I appreciate his ability to sculpt and clarify the vision and scope for each project, while keeping the plan grounded in the realities and goals of the organization. He brings a tremendous amount of insight, integrity, and a wide variety of skills to the table. I’ve always admired his ability to look beyond the obvious solution and find the best solution, encouraging everyone around him to think more creatively. His management style is direct, yet sincere and compassionate. It is rare to find a person who is equally at ease in a creative role as they are in operations and strategic undertakings.

Matthew Douzart, Founder—Emboldin Strategic Design answered:

Perhaps there's another angle to approach this: "How have startups encouraged and enhanced the power of Google?"

Since inception, Google has acquired over 100 companies—many of which would be considered startups. These M&A's are a way for a large company like Google to onboard talent and IP that enhance existing products as well as extend their offerings. An example would be the acquisition of GrandCentral which ultimately became GoogleVoice. They have also acquired several smaller search engines that have gone on to enhance their core offering, as well as protect their market share.

Matthew Douzart, Founder—Emboldin Strategic Design answered:

The best time to begin incorporating identity strategy into the mix is when the vision for the product is clear. If you can clearly articulate what you are building, the key features, the environment you are attempting to create, and who your target customers are, you're ready.

Here's the good news—quality brand and identity advice and visual design does not have to be very expensive. I've worked with large agencies and freelance experts in the past, and the only difference I have experienced is the cost.

Wishing you much success!
