Ask me anything. Either I've been there or know someone who has.
I always take the project size into consideration. Also are they new clients or returning? Studios/Networks will usually make an offer based on the scope of the work and size of the project.
Day rates aren't always the best route because you usually won't have a great idea of what it will take until you get into it and it's easy to underbid your time unless you have worked for them before.
Last note. Don't work on the promise of getting paid when the project goes. Often they don't.
Matias is one of the few qualified to move in any area he chooses, but it DGA Asst Director, Production Manager, Producer and Director. Not only does he have integrity as a professional but he is one of the greatest human beings I have ever worked with.
For many years we have hired Matias as a 1st Asst Director on all our local productions in Salt Lake City. We consider him by the far the best 1st AD in Utah due to his detailed knowledge, creative thinking, and calm demeanor and professionalism with us and the rest of the crew. His performance over the years has been exemplary and his skills have proven themselves superior to others many times over. Recently, we elevated him to Production Manager on our most recent project and found the results to be exactly what we expected. He adapted to the new position very quickly and began organizing and communicating in new ways that we found superior to the old. His attention to detail was excellent and helped bring the picture in on time and under budget despite the complexity and challenges that arose. I would not hesitate at all to make him our first choice as either a 1st AD or Production Manager on any project we take to Salt Lake.
Matias is exactly the kind of person you hope you'll have on your tough projects. Of course he's knowledgeable and experienced. But beyond that he comes to the show with a deep understanding of people and what each needs to flourish and contribute their best to a project. He's even-tempered but knows how to keep the push going all through a long day or night. I never saw Matias get flustered or upset. I saw him diffuse many a tense moment. Bottom line: I'd be delighted to work with him any time.
Matias was the AD on seven pictures that I Executive Produced in Utah for the Disney Channel. He was always an asset to the productions. He was prepared, quick, even -tempered, and a very good problem solver...not to mention a great sense of humor and very well read.
