Raising an Issue With Your Boss

Even though I am a former HR manager, I was an employee too. I had many opportunities to raise something up to my boss that might be touchy or potentially make them defensive. I have coached people on both sides of the table. I can help you think through approaching your boss, whether it's to ask them to do something differently, or ask for training, a new position, etc. There ARE ways to do this.

How do you prevent turnover within your company? I am the founder of a 200 employee technology company that is seeing roughly 25% annual churn.

I'm in agreement with all the answers so far. I would add that having just read, "Delivering Happiness" by Zappos founder and CEO Tony Hsieh, I'm reminded that having a clear company culture and hiring for culture fit is imperative. As a former HR manger, I saw how inattention to this impacted turnover and organization success over and over. I would be glad to talk over how you have established company values and are realizing those to support the success of your business, and retention.

As I was beginning my career, I was full of questions and uncertainty. Right from the beginning, Mary saw me as an individual. She didn't try to address my situation with a "one-size-fits-all approach" or give me "the" answer. She led me to discover my own path and answer my own questions.
