TEFL Language Teacher with teaching experience in S. Korea, Thailand, Spain and Saudi Arabia also: language learner, traveller, communicator, scuba diver, mobile game addict, and lover of beautiful things.
I'm a TEFL Teacher with 8 years teaching experience. I've taught in South Korea, Thailand, Spain and currently I teach with the world largest petroleum provider in Saudi Arabia. I've also traveled extensively and created a global social network of EFL teachers. I can help give you insight on what to expect in a new country, how to build your expat social circle, give (unofficial) visa advice or where to find counselling. Give me a call to learn from my mistakes and gain insight into an exciting adventure waiting for you.
I met Marcus Higgs during the course 'Rigorous Linguistic Immersion Program' offered by Pueblo Inglés – More Than English in September of 2011. The object of the course was for 20 Spanish speakers and 20 English speakers to spend a week together doing a variety of activities while always communicating in English. I found Mr. Higgs to be an excellent teacher, always ready to provide correction to help me eliminate bad habits on the spot with his quick and clear corrections. What stood out above all was a brilliant communicator capable of working with me and others in a way that allowed us to enjoy a full week of speaking a language that was not our own. I am sure that you will not only learn the English language working with him but, equally important, you will benefit from what he has to share both personally and culturally.
Marcus is an excellent, creative, vibrant professional who has a strong ability to connect people. Working with him only enhanced my performance due in part to the high energy he brings to the table and stellar execution.
Marcus is a pleasure to work with. His positive attitude is encouraging in any work force and is a positive influence even in the most stressful situations. Marcus takes initiative without being asked, is creative in his lesson planning and works hard at connecting with not only his students, but also with his colleagues. Marcus excels at being a teacher, an employee, and a friend.
Marcus and I worked together in Yangpyeong, South Korea for several months. It was a pleasure to get to know Marcus as a colleague and a friend.
Marcus is an outstanding public speaker, possessing an enviable level of charisma and poise. On several occasions, I watched him hold groups of three to three hundred in rapt attention as he delivered lessons, told stories, or entertained a hall full of students (without the benefit of a program, outline, or script).
During one event, he led an auditorium of students in song...in Korean.
Besides his public speaking skills, conversations with and observations of Marcus showed he was both knowledgeable of and passionate about applied linguistics, English education, and the effective deployment of language.
I would recommend Marcus without hesitation for any position which required a high level of interpersonal or communication skills.
