I've known Luke since our law school days at Syracuse. While in law school, Luke proved to be an innovative thinker and leader. I've recently had the opportunity to learn more about his ventures including Asurvest and must admit that he continues to provide a creative flare with everything he does. Luke and I were in the same MBA cohort at Babson. He came across as an intelligent, insightful individual with a strong penchant for his field of work in private equity. We had the opportunity to work together on a merger and acquisition class for small and mid size companies taught by a professor who had in the past been extensively associated with investment banking. Luke’s insight in this class and to his groupmates like me was tremendous. He not only understood the concepts but his articulation of the same to others made it clear in my mind that he was well trained in the areas that included multiple valuations, financing, deal structure, formulating earnouts and covenants and drafting of LOI to the seller. The pragmatic approach in the formulation of operational strategies for small businesses that he brought to the table in this class from his extensive experience in private equity business enabled others to understand the dynamics involved in structuring an M&A deal. This class structure that included competing against other groups for deals brought Luke’s competitive spirit to the front and as a group, we were very successful.
