I worked closely with Alexei for several years and was always impressed by the broader view he brought to his role. Alex was never satisfied just coding, he was always looking at how the company as a whole was doing. Regularly, Alex would bring me into a conference room and show me analysis he had done on the company as a whole and trends he saw in the data. Invariably, we would both learn from this in that I'd see the business from a different angle and would also help him to understand why certain numbers were going in the direction they were. I enjoyed my time working with Alex and would look forward to the opportunity of doing so again.
Alexei and I worked on adjacent architectural tiers of the Philips StarFSE project. We worked under very tight delivery constraints. Thanks to Alexei’s expertise we never failed to meet the delivery date and always with a bullet proof deliverable. Alexei is a .NET expert but more than that he was always contributing in any way necessary to make sure the team as a whole was successful.
Of all the software engineers at Whenu, I was most impressed with Alexei, not only because he was a capable software engineer, but also because he was extremely thorough in his work and left no stones unturned to make his software robust and bullet-proof. I remember the time when the lead software engineer of Whenu left and there was nobody, I mean nobody in Whenu who had any clue about the codebase that evolved over 4-5 years. To make it even worse, we were in the midst of a completely new release that required software from a third-party to be integrated into our codebase. In addition, we some of our customers were eagerly waiting for the new release. As the CTO of the company, I was literally at sea and was under tremendous pressure to deliver the new release within a very aggressive deadline. Thanks to Alexei, we were able to deliver a robust product within a very aggressive deadline. Being in the advertisement business, one of our core requirements was to be able to analyze the results and interpret which ads to keep and which ones to be eliminated. This involved serious statistical analysis and once again, it was Alexei who did the hard work and brought new insights. Overall, Alexei is an extremely talented software engineer-cum-analyst and I'd recommend him to any organization that is looking not just for a software developer, but also for someone who can analyze results and improve systems on an ongoing basis.
I was Alex's technical lead on several projects, and found him to be an excellent developer. He was very effective at taking sometimes nebulous or cryptic requirements and finding a workable solution. He has a very good sense of when to seek help, whom to seek it from, and how to make the best use of it when it's provided. I would have no hesitation in recommending him, and would enjoy the opportunity to work with him again.

I had met Alexei during his presentation of Kanban at the Agile Workshop held in bangalore. He is an excellent speaker, with a unique presentation style leaving a deep impact on the audience. I would definately recommend him for training teams for application of lean and Agile principles in their organization.
Alexei has superbly analytical mind, uncommon organizational skills, and an enviable ability to communicate clearly and precisely. In spite of his "college professor" academic style of communication, where his words fall neatly into slots within their home sentences and the sentences form coherent structures with purpose and hierarchy, Alexei can also deliver performance of an engineer that has spent his entire professional life deep in "the trenches". He has incredible sense of the time cost of proposed solutions and can select the best path to deliver business requirements on time and with the precision of the proverbial "Swiss watch". It has been rare opportunity for me to work with Alexei, and highly recommend him to any prospective enterprise.
Alex and I worked closely together at WhenU on a few different projects - all of which were geared towards improving our advertising product. Since I managed our travel category, I remember asking Alex for help in making our travel advertisements more contextual to users - specifically showing ads that were relevant to their travel searches. Alex was able to develop a solution that recognized what destinations users were searching for on the major travel search engines - and he did it in a very short amount of time. This specific technology allowed us to sell advertising inventory to not only the large typical travel clients, but more regional companies as well (e.g., Vegas specific). Our CTR not only improved dramatically with this new targeting technology, but the increase in business was substantial as well. Alex was a great internal partner on this project not only b/c he was able to work quickly and put out a solid product, but because he was able to think strategically about how to best solve my problem.
Alexei is a welcome addition to any development team. He is detail-oriented, conscientious, extremely intelligent, and has an expansive command of computer science and of concepts in the software development cycle, including being an expert in the C++ programming language and JavaScript, among others.
It was a pleasure working with him, both personally and professionally, and he will be a tremendous asset in this position. In addition to his technical skills he was patient and a great teacher when I first joined the development team at WhenU, and would make both a fine manager and hands-on developer / software architect.
During the time I worked with Alex, he always was the most knowledgeable developer and a constant source of information for all stakeholders.
