Founder and Managing Editor of Kristen Jeffers Media. MPA, Media Maven, Placemaker, Writer, Speaker. Coach. Contributor to Urbanful.
I have performed marketing and communication functions, for both online and offline media, for a state university, a city council candidate, an arts and culture grant making and programing association, an association for high growth entrepreneurs, architecture firms and for the fields of placemaking and urban planning. I can help you develop a strategy for communications and marketing that is within a reasonable budget for your organization. That strategy can incorporate social media, email marketing, blogging, and reaching out to the traditional press. We can also discuss how to incorporate events and strategic partnerships in your planning as well. The goal is to be able to do these items yourself or within your team or find someone who can do these things for you.
Kristen is a well organized manager, capable of pulling together disparate components to deliver a cohesive whole. She is friendly, knowledgeable and highly competent. She always leaves a positive impression on those around her.
I have known Kristen for approximately 2 years, during which she was a student in my Organizational Communication course and an honors student in the Department of Communication at North Carolina State University. I had the opportunity to serve as Kristen’s honors’ thesis adviser and am aware of her interest in nonprofit organizations and social justice. While a student in our Public Relations concentration, Kristen was involved in both the Public Relations Student Society of America and Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honors Society. Based on my close work with Kristen I know her to have several important qualities such as high motivation, academic integrity and international awareness. Our communication curriculum requires students to take courses such as communication and technology and research methods, which requires in-depth knowledge of SPSS. Many of our courses include components on leadership, intercultural/international communication, and communication ethics. Kristen’s honors thesis focused on the importance of including service and aid recipients in nonprofit development efforts and involved a detailed web site analysis along with examination of nonprofit development campaigns and materials. Kristen has demonstrated her abilities and leadership potential and I believe she would make an excellent colleague in any capacity that motivates her.
Kristen's writing skills are as professional as someone much older; yet she has the advantage of youth when dealing with social media and representing the views of her generation.
While I have known Kristen professionally for many years, I must say that her most recent venture, North Carolina Placebook, is some of her best work. I manage several Facebook pages for Realtors across the state and I use North Carolina Placebook as one of my sources for local information. North Carolina Placebook is easy to use and navigate, and it only takes a minute or two to skim through the stories to find what is relevant to my clientele. I really appreciate being kept up to speed on the happenings in North Carolina on a personal level as well.
Kristen is a very-detailed and organized individual and is very knowledgeable in non-profit community work, networking, acedemia, technology, and technical writing. She is involved in many networking groups throughout the community and a very focused individual. Her writing is her passion.
