I do not have a formal education in computer science--I am entirely self taught. This is not unusual in the WordPress space.
However when interacting with other self-taught developers, I have experienced that this lack of formal education can be a career limiter.
Some people falsely assume they got "lucky". Or that they do not have what it takes to get promoted, work on bigger projects, and with better clients.
These assumptions are wrong. I worked for a small agency, for Automattic, for WordPress VIP, and now at one of the top WordPress enterprise agencies in the world. You can do the same, or even better!
But it's easy to write this, but not as easy to do. I've mentored dozens of developers, and helped them master unfamiliar technologies, take on more responsibilites in their job, or get a promotion.
