I had the pleasure of working with Sally for nearly two years at Yahoo!. Sally is an extremely talented User Experience Designer. She is knowledgeable in all the web development disciplines, and can fill the role of Visual Designer, Interaction Designer, Front End Developer and Product Manager.
I was always glad to work with Sally on a project as her work ethic, attention to detail and creative problem solving made my job easier, while her easy-going and fun-loving personality made the work much more enjoyable.
Sally is a fantastic UE and Visual Designer. She has a great talent for explaining UE/UI concepts in terms that I understand, and she executes on those concepts brilliantly. She also has a fun and sunny disposition that makes her a real treat to work with.
Sally is an excellent user experience designer that can take very challenging, complicated design problems and distill them down into simple, elegant solutions. She's also a very talented visual design and illustrator.
Sally does an excellent job of putting the user experience at the forefront of her designs and stimulating UE dialogue among team members. She's produces good work under the demanding schedules, and the HTML and CSS code in her functional mockups is easily integrated into our final JSP product. She's also pretty quick with a well timed joke. Great asset to the team!
Sally is a consumate web professional. Her work ethic is exceptional and her design skill is superb. Hire her!
As a colleague of Sally's, I can vouch for her inimitable organizational skills and true drive to succeed at whatever task she's given. Her presence alone injects a vibrance into any corporate culture. She never lacks ideas, and she never lacks the initiative to turn those ideas into reality. Working with her has been a pleasure, and has taught me much about how I can be a more positive impact.
We worked with Sally and her team to develop the new look-and-feel for Crutchfield.com. In a short amount of time our two teams developed a vastly improved customer experience for a massive and complicated consumer site. It was because of Sally's technical expertise and diligent leadership that the project launched to glowing reviews and success. Highly Recommended!
Sally is an extremely likeable person with a huge creative talent matched by her energy and wit.
Sally is an innovative, energetic, and savvy web designer who is a pleasure to work with. Sally was responsible for the majority of web design work done in the initial stages of crutchfieldadvisor.com, and helped develop the site from a small collection of loosely organized articles into a full-fledged, independent destination for people looking to research consumer electronics.
Sally and I worked together at Crutchfield, and then were involved in a freelance project for the same client. She did graphic design and I did web programming.
We spent the most time working together at Crutchfield, where she was quite an inspiration. She was determined to bring the website out of the darkness of nested tables into the light of CSS. This was no easy task, because the codebase was very old, so she had to deal with some code that just wouldn't be upgraded; the only thing harder than making a table-based layout work right is making a mixture of table-based code and standards-compliant CSS work right. After working on Crutchfield's main website together, we also tackled a smaller subsidiary site, which together we were able to convert to completely standards-compliant code.
Though these were technically difficult tasks, I want to praise Sally most for her approach to the problem. She was able to bring a lot of foot-draggers on board -- people who would literally say we shouldn't even try to support any browser other than IE because "it's the standard." Balancing the mandate to make the site easier to modify and more accessible, while working with unwilling members of another team over which you have no control is delicate indeed. Sally was always very proactive, and in fact she even organized companywide presentations on topics like "what is web 2.0" to get people interested and excited about the changes sweeping across the Internet.
As good as Sally is with graphic and web design, and as competent as she is with code, I have always known her calling and drive is to work at a higher level where she can lead others, cultivating greatness in many instead of just being one great person herself.
Sally is a great designer. She's got strong skills in both interaction and visual design and she knows the engineering/development side better than most designers as well. She is a great positive presence in the office and works well with everyone regardless of job-role. Top-notch all around.
