It is without hesitation that I recommend Devon for upcoming speaking opportunities. She received my insight and coaching with openness and patiently crafted her presentation content like a true professional with outstanding results. Her presentation at our TEDx event was virtually flawless - she had the audience sitting on the edge of their seats and you could have heard a pin drop in the auditorium. The true telling of an exemplary speaker is the ripple effect. Devon invited our audience and volunteers to connect with her and share their own stories. Many have done so - a true testament to enchanting and engaging her audience.
Through TEDxKids@BC I get a chance to meet many amazing young people with inspiring stories and great ideas. Devon was one of them recently, but in many ways stood out from the rest because of her courage. She spoke at TEDxKids@BC Change on April 5th in front of an audience of 200 high school students and shared her deeply personal and tragic story of abuse and trauma. Her talk served as a call for youth to confront violence and break the bystander effect. I was very inspired by Devon's courage and ability to talk about her own traumatic experience in a way that allows the audience to connect with her at a personal level and listen to her important message. Devon is clearly a change maker and her fight to rise above adversity and become an advocate for societal shift to help the victims of violence is an important example for everyone to take note. I am looking forward to see Devon spreading her message to other events and would recommend to listen to her to anyone who is thinking about how violence impacts our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
Devon is a leader in every sense of the word. Like a gardener to her nursery, Devon provides her employees and mentees with the guidance, counselling, and proper tools to bloom in every direction. A walking vector of optimism, it was an absolute pleasure to be in the presence of Devon's sky-is-the-limit attitude on a daily basis. Devon teaches others not to be afraid to ask questions, take charge, and dream. I feel incredibly lucky to have worked under Devon at MetroLeap and wish her luck (though she doesn't need it!) in all her future endeavours.
Devon coached and mentored me throughout my time at Blo Blow Dry Bar. She gave me tools that I use to this day in aspects of social media, public relations, marketing and branding.
Thanks Dev, you're the best.
Devon is one of the most talented business and marketing minds I've ever had the pleasure of working with. During my time working under Devon, I learned an invaluable amount about people, business, and life. Her unrestrained creativity, focused business savvy, and glowing personality make her a truly rare talent.
As my supervisor at MetroLyrics in the Communications dept. Devon was always a positive, encouraging force. She consistently made me feel comfortable enough to ask questions and to express myself when I had any concerns. Devon's leadership style was really empowering because she always put her trust in her team to deliver results without micromanaging us which allowed our creativity to flourish. I always felt encouraged by her to come up with new ideas and suggestions. On top of it all, Devon is extremely warm and sunny so working for her was a delight.
Devon is a networking dynamo. She's warm, bright, engaging, disarming, and sharp. She's an innovator, a creator, a firebrander, a make-things-happener. Devon has the magic touch and brings sparks and ideas to any organization lucky enough to have her.
To have somebody like Devon as my department manager was a definite push in the right direction for me; career-wise and relationship-wise. The positive energy, passion, and overall experience she added to our department helped us grow not only as a team, but individually as well. I realized a lot about myself in the short period that Devon led us, which I believe aided me in putting my best foot forward at my current position. I hope to keep in contact with Devon as I continue down my career path, because she has the loyalty and compassion of a boss, mentor, and friend.
I met Devon when she was an entrepreneur who had co-founded Blo Blowdry Bar. I later came to know her more when I served on the Board of Directors of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs while she was the Innovation Director there. From the time I met Devon, I was impressed by her energy, creativity and intelligence. She is a driven young woman and a true inspiration to young entrepreneurs. She has accomplished more than many people twice her age and I continue, with great interest, to watch her career progress as she conquers her next challenge and eventually, the world!
I can vividly remember meeting Devon for the first time. As a fresh undergraduate she could command a room and her determination to succeed gave her a palpable sense of purpose. Everyone knew Devon on our course - it was impossible to miss such a high flyer.
Devon's energy and authenticity makes her an absolute pleasure to know. She is a biz-plan, brand and marketing whiz-kid. Her extraordinary ability to build team and culture is proven by her work at Blo and FWE. I would gladly refer her to any of my contacts, knowing she would blow-them-away.
