I've been running a successful web design studio with my wife for nearly eight years. I've learned a ton on this journey and I want to share it with you.

I've started my business working out of a corner desk in an apartment. I grew it to where we had an office and a small team that overlooked the city of Columbus. We've now are a completely remote company that runs efficiently and smoothly and is focussed on delivering value to our clients while making profits. We've done all of this with just $5,000 and one client who believed in us.

I've learned many pros and cons to running a freelance design business. I've learned what it takes to position yourself so that you can begin to make more than just beer money. I learned how to build a company that is sustainable and generates real money that I can live on.

I'm making myself available to you because I wish I had someone to turn to early on when I was learning how to do this. I want to either help you get started on the right track, help you avoid some early mistakes or to just simply provide some advice so that you can grow to the next level.

A great brand and business can only take you so far. If you want to reach your personal or business goals, you need to have an audience to sell to.

Every week I share career insight to thousands of designers who follow me through Twitter, my blog and weekly newsletter. By having this audience I've opened up a number of great opportunities for both the short term as well as the long term. This audience serves as a base to my bigger personal and financial goals.

If you're wanting to build or grow an existing or new audience, I'm happy to share with you my experience as well as help brainstorm a strategy with you.

Career Advice for Designers

Navigating the design industry can be a struggle. I've been working in the industry for over a decade. I've worked for small design studios, large global studios and built my very own design studio which has been run primarily by my wife and I for nearly eight years.

I've worked on projects for brands like NFL, Select Comfort, Target, Walmart as well as hundreds of small to mid sized companies around the world.

I've shared what I've learned to designers from all over the world. I do this through my weekly newsletter, consulting calls as well as various speaking gigs at colleges and events.

Hard to believe, but I've managed to reach most of my career goals by the age of 30. I'm currently focussing now on the last handful which centers around mentoring. Hence why I'm here on Clarity. I believe every designer deserves to reach their goals.
