I built a community of 400+ mommy bloggers who're curating deals on Reclip.It. These bloggers could be an effective way to get a large number or early product testers, if they are your target audience.
Other user acquisition methods I've worked on in the past: Facebook Open Graph, giveaway & contests, building in viral hooks into product, email marketing campaigns, partner co-marketing campaigns, SEO, SEM, etc.
I've been interviewed live on ABC7 San Francisco, Fox Business, and have done a Cyber Monday segment for Fox News. I've also appeared on all the major publications like Techcrunch, Mashable, AllThingsD, CNN, WSJ, Lifehacker, GigaOm, CNET, USNews, Forbes, TNW, etc. I could help you assess if PR is the right strategy for you since it doesn't work for all startups.
I can help with best practices for being a first-time CEO. From operations, budgeting, and strategy to hiring/firing, product roadmap, and fundraising.
I'm an advisor and mentor to Lean Startup Machine Weekend and have given presentations about the different kinds of MVPs a startup can build without using code.
If you're designing a mobile app for the first time, I can share best practices in wireframing for iOS apps and managing the process through deployment and testing.
I really appreciate Cheryl for her time. She was helpful in providing guidance on building a MVP and testing the market.
Great help thinking things through.
Cheryl's advices gave clarity to my idea and actions to take for now. She kept the call going for 15 minutes longer than intended and provided resources to contact. Thanks Cheryl!
Cheryl was helpful in letting me know how Thiel Fellowship selected their candidates, invaluable advice & saved me a lot of otherwise wasted time.
Had a good call with Cheryl. Practical and detailed advice. Thank you!
Informed and informative, highly valued advice.
Cheryl is a very kind person and truly wants to help but was not very useful in my particular case. I don't think she bothered to read my website, i suspect she just skimmed it and watched the video. Couldn't really grasp the concept and was therefore rather dismissive. Very likely she is much more talented with established and easily defined businesses. I pretty much just got a referral to a webpage testing site, the rest was all stating the obvious.
Very constructive call despite poor connection over skype. Strong feedback on my business idea which adds much value to my startup process.
Cheryl is very knowledgeable, would highly recommend.
Cheryl was super easy to talk to, very well-prepared for our call, and gave me confidence about the next steps I need to take with my idea, testing, and company.
