We worked together on creating fairly sophisticated software to predict internet traffic from various search signals for our custom content creation process, and it worked, not just a theoretical result, but a practical application of machine learning that we were able to turn into practice.

Charles is very familiar with various statistical and stochastic modeling methods. In a very short period, he was able to understand the stochastic models that were used in our product and then suggest enhancements to them to account for previously ignored variables such as time, seasonality etc. Charles showed high proficiency in using J2EE platform which was used to build our product.

I met Charles while working at The Mechanical Zoo. At times we worked very closely on problems I knew absolutely nothing about: document classification, word sense disambiguation, transductive learning, probabilistic natural language parsing. Charles was able to impart a high-level understanding of these subjects, even though I was completely unexposed to machine learning and have no mathematical background. He worked with myself and other engineers to develop end-to-end software implementations (mainly Ruby and Java) of his designs. This included a range of applications including corpora assembly using cloud computing, training and manipulation of datasets, and highly performant production code. I enjoyed learning from and working with Charles. He will be a valuable asset to any organization, and I would definitely work with him again.
