Mr. Phillips has founded or been part of the leadership team in the early stages of almost a dozen technology companies, five of which eventually had a successful exit. In addition he was involved in the founding of new divisions in two large global organizations: Tivoli Systems (now IBM) and Arthur Young & Company's consulting division (now Ernst & Young & Cap Gemini). He has raised $28 million in venture funding and has run global sales and business development organizations covering 23 countries on 5 continents.
Mr. Phillips has been a senior executive, Board Member, and/or Advisor in hundreds of startups in the software, internet, and life sciences and cleantech spaces. He continues to take an active role in shaping promising new companies and in working with nonprofit organizations and causes.
He also has taken a leadership role in promoting entrepreneurship in the developing world He previously at an ivy league university helping faculty members start companies and before that led the global entrepreneurship practice for a non-profit organization with operations in 30 countries. He also has advised Goldman Sachs, Walmart, the Clinton Foundation, and the Aspen Institute, on entrepreneurship.
