We specialize in producing clean, simple and accessible websites, with particular expertise in the User Interface.
Squarespace is our weapon of choice— in fact, Squarespace sites are all we do, 100% of the time, day & night.
Our diverse clientele range from independent start-ups to large multinational companies. We have worked on various creative and development projects for the past 18 years, gaining valuable experience that equips us to make beautifully designed websites that are easy to maintain.
We are specialists in: Information Architecture, user interface design, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, usability, accessibility, semantic markup and web standards.
I would suggest online training over a book— because I can hear and view examples + when working through an online course, you can pause/search/code-along with the program. But that's just my preference. Look to teamtreehouse.com and lynda.com
Alan Houser is one of the most creative and talented web designers and artists I have ever worked with. On several projects Alan always delivered more than what was asked of him. His contribution to projects was always welcome. He not only added an excellent artistic contribution, but his humor mixed with his professionalism made him a joy to work with.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to endorse Alan. I collaborated with Alan on many web design applications and he was often asked to create a workable design for a major application with only a sketch on a napkin to guide him. He had the uncanny ability to synthesize and filter current design trends and meld them into a useful web design that turned out to be just what the customer wanted.
For two years, Alan represented my company, KRG. I was always impressed with his ability to take an idea from a customer and turn it into a very creative website or print ad. Alan's design capabilities almost certainly contributed to our success and repeat business.
Alan is one of the most creative people I know. He has a bold, colorful style and a real sense of fun while at the same time his deigns are always dead on when it comes to targeting the audience or being appropriate to the subject. He always amazed me with his talent and his knowledge of his craft while at the same time his sense of humor made working with him fun.
Alan's advice on podcasting and blogging was instrumental in helping me launch the "authorized" Angie's List podcast. He's an expert at what he does, as exemplified by his Creative Component website. Check it out and you'll see what I mean.
Alan was very creative and talented as well as knowledgeable in current web technologies and trends.
Alan is an excellent Web designer. His creativity is boundless and he will always come up with the correct solution for you. He is quick and flexible, and able to come up with designs that meet sometimes conflicting needs of various users, without sacrificing creativity and usefulness.
Alan is probably the most creative guy I know, and has a great sense of humor. I worked with him at Angies List on a few very high profile projects and always thought his designs were outstanding. He also cares deeply about usability, and helped to steer us in the right direction on a number of occasions when mocking up screens and making other UI decisions. I hope to have a chance to work with him again sometime.
