When I was little, and my dad used to tell me bedtime stories, I would reclaim a different story every night. Little Red Riding Hood became Little White Riding Hood, going downhill with her skis. The next night, Little Light Blue Riding Hood would go to the seaside to visit her grandma, who was sunbathing. I liked the variety, and I liked stories.
Growing up, I started writing stories myself. Still, it wasn't until I kickstarted my career as a public speaker and wrote my own speeches that I began to pay attention to mine and others' stories. That's when I started to learn everything about the art of storytelling, from story structure to the principles of storytelling.
After giving my TEDx in 2017, I developed an intense fear of the stage that would keep me paralyzed for weeks if I knew that I had to speak on stage. It was time to work on my self-confidence and my visibility. Thanks to an actress friend, I learned some breathing and body exercises to prepare my voice and body. I also took elocution lessons (in Italian) and reading. I've performed in front of both adults and children alike, reading out loud pages of books by female authors.
If you're writing your own speech or your about page, want to share an important part of your story that requires you to embrace your vulnerability (like when I announced I had closed my business of 6 years), or need some tips to get you comfortable before and during your performance, I can help.
Here's what I can help you with:
I can give you tips, tools, and feedback about your story structure and overall story.
I can help you tailor your story for your medium of choice (website, speech, podcast, blog post, etc.)
I can share what I've learned since 2013 about getting on stage, writing stories, and creating content for my podcast—most of it in English, my second language.
"Veronica is an amazing storyteller who transports you into imagined spaces filled with the intoxicating aroma of food and the loving warmth of friendship." – Amanda Cookson, co-founder Northern Value Creators, Sheffield, UK.
You'll get one step further to craft a story that engages and moves your audience, an "about page" that resonates with your readers, and the confidence that you've got this.
