I had the pleasure of having Umang on my team at A9 where he did an outstanding job product managing a slew of high priority and high impact advertising projects for Amazon. Umang is smart and hard-working with a great attitude, likable personality, and good sense of humor. He has a good grasp of online advertising space and is always willing to absorb and learn new things. If given a chance, I'd love to work with him again in any capacity.
Umang is an excellent example of how a good product manager balances being collaborative with being independent. Umang worked well with analysts to develop complex and insightful analyses that helped optimize revenue for Farmville. He always strove to add analytical rigor to his work and pushed the envelope by introducing new ways of personalizing features for players. At the same time, Umang always knew when it was appropriate to do things for himself and often took the opportunity to learn new skills that would help him be more self-sufficient. I truly enjoyed working with Umang and look forward to an opportunity to work with him again.
I had the pleasure of managing and working with Umang in the FarmVille studio from 2011 to 2012. He was an integral member of the revenue PM team - most notably by leading the efforts on the user payments side of the business. He was very analytical in his work, and also had a knack for executing on projects quickly and with strong judgment. Lastly, he was a true team player and did a great job sharing his expertise with other PM's and engineers across the studio. I highly recommend Umang and would be glad to work with him again in the future.
It was an absolute pleasure to have Umang as a product manager at A9. He has strong engineering background, and he's very detailed oriented, so requirement documents coming from him always made sense and were ready for implementation. Umang has always been open for discussions and brainstorming. His wide domain knowledge and creativity made these discussions very enjoyable and fruitful. I hope we'll get to work together again in the future.
I worked with Umang first when he was a Software Engineer and later when he became a Product Manager. As an engineer Umang had solid foundations and expertise across a wide domain of technologies and was quick to understand a complex system and make an immediate impact. As a Product Manager he had an excellent understanding of the Online Advertising business and guided our team to build the right product, along with other internal partner teams. He was a pleasure to work with, he worked well with both engineers and business owners and I would love get a chance to work with Umang again.
Umang is a smart product owner, with keen analytical skills. His ability to dissect empirical data and interpret his findings into user-facing features makes him a very effective Product Manager. Umang understands the balance between quality of product and its timely delivery. He is a valuable asset to any team he is a part of.
Solution-oriented, detail-oriented, focused on delivering a simple and right solution, through and creative - thats how I'd describe Umang. He was a software developer at that time - he considered alternatives and simplified design, was creative but realistic in feature decisions/priority and very through with his development and testing. Using technology as a tool to build solutions and not just for the sake of hype.
