Mr Divney is Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Beaconcrest Capital Management, LLC. Beaconcrest was formed in 2009 to manage diversified long-short equity strategies for Institutional and High Net Worth clients. The firm philosophy is to provide superior risk adjusted returns while maintaining a capital preservation focus. Beaconcrest integrates a fundamental and quantitative approach to stock picking, while using a robust risk management framework as the foundation for portfolio construction.
Prior to founding Beaconcrest, Mr Divney worked at Putnam Investments from 1997 to 2008. He was initially hired to develop its risk management platform, enabling more sophisticated and real time risk analysis by portfolio managers as well as firm managementIn 2000, Mr. Divney transitioned into portfolio management as a Senior Portfolio Manager for the US Core Team. It was here that his Quantitative Stock Ranking methodologies were enhanced, and combined with the fundamental research effort at Putnam. As part of the Core team, Mr Divney functioned as the portfolio manager of various Putnam mutual funds including the Putnam Voyager Fund and lead manager of the Putnam Tax Smart Equity Fund. In 2003, From 2005-2008, Mr. Divney served as the Chief Investment Officer of the Mid Cap Growth team, managing up to $8 billion of Large Cap and Mid Cap growth strategies that included Mutual Funds and Institutional Portfolios.
