Sean Buvala Sean Buvala is a storyteller and author.

United States
Sean Buvala works in story, spoken-word stages, boardrooms, and slams across the United States. He has been engaged with storytelling and communication since 1986. He started his work by accidentally using active storytelling to convert a classroom of slightly (but comically) homicidal 8th-grade teenagers from angry kids to storytelling practitioners themselves. From then on, both the kids and Sean were sold on the influence of a great story. From kids in classrooms to bosses in boardrooms, from presenting workshops for global salt miners to consulting with Ph.D.’s in pharmaceuticals, Sean has told and taught stories in nearly every industry and setting. He’s been the boss (and janitor) of a non-profit organization and is currently the entrepreneur-in-charge at…

I first met Sean Buvala when he created storyteller.net more than twelve years ago. Since that time, I have come to respect and admire Sean for his professional focus, attention to detail and passion for sharing information with others. His talent is diverse and ever changing to meet the needs of his customers. Although Sean excels as a storyteller, he has no match when it comes to his ability to teach the art of story. I recommend Sean Buvala without reservation.

Sean has often helped me move my business to the next level. His understanding of marketing is only matched by his creativity as a writer/storyteller and his generous personality.

I have long appreciated Sean's tireless support of the storytelling community at large, and his persistent message that a career involving a performance art must be treated as a business, not simply an expression of creative energy.

I worked with Sean in a Mastermind group, where he acted as facilitator and coach. Sean's warmth, enthusiasm, and care were evident in every session, but I didn't hire him to be nice. I hired him for his expertise. I found that Sean excelled in the following areas:
customizing his advice to meet the specific needs of each participant;
his knowledge of marketing (from direct mail to social media) was up-to-date, based both on practical experience and ongoing training he was receiving;
offering concrete and specific steps to build a business in a creative field.
Finally, the marketing resources he has created and made available to us
have been invaluable.

I would not hesitate to recommend Sean to a storyteller or performing artist looking for coaching or help with marketing and business development.

Sean puts the O in storytelling. In our Social Story conference, Sean brought so much charisma and animation to our audience and extreme value to our group of eclectic speakers - I'm still having people tell me how much they loved him! If you have the opportunity to hear Sean tell some stories, do it. They are fun, yet meaningful and free spirited tales that have a deep meaning that is memorable for months after. If you have the opportunity to work with Sean Buvala, I recommend that even more...what a great spirit and high energy, yet easy going person to have on your team and on your side.

Sean is very concientious about his craft and in helping others tap into their potential. His performance is captivating - keeps everyone involved and wanting more. I highly recommend him for either storytelling or coaching public speaking for a broad audience.

Few people are aware of this fact but Sean was way ahead of the social networking curve, hosting interactive sites on the internet even before there was a MySpace. One of his sites, Storyteller.net, has been around, at least, more than a decade and has promoted and supported the careers of many storytellers. Sean's level of professionalism is unparalleled and exemplary. His innovative and creative personality compliments his trail-blazing entrepreneurial spirit and acute business acumen in ways rarely found in an individual. As one of the few storytelling professionals consistently delivering workshops and seminars to corporate clients, Sean has made a name for himself in that realm as an exciting, motivational and effective facilitator. Any agency desirous of first class, informative seminars focusing on the broader aspects of storytelling would do well not to waste time searching through catalogs and hire an innovator in the storyteller movement, Sean Buvala.
