Shardul is one of the most passionate and fearless Product Managers I have worked with. He possesses an internal compass rarely found in Product Management today. As with Captain Kirk of the famed Starship Enterprise, Shardul’s 5 year mission (actually longer) is to seek out new Product Management techniques and boldly go where no one has gone before. Shardul has an innate ability to quickly discover and assimilate the most innovative product development approaches. He constantly questions the status quo and strives for the “better way”. When I worked with Shardul, he was instrumental in introducing (and subsequently) managing user research into his organizations’ development cycle. He is not afraid to listen and learn from actual customers, and most importantly to take action from these insights to improve the product. Whether he is patiently explaining to senior leadership the value of emerging technologies, or getting down to nitty-gritty with the development team, Shardul always moves things in the right direction. He makes the difficult decisions needed with an authentic kindness and respect for all he works with. His infectious smile and good humor is a guiding light during those inevitable tough points in the product development cycle. I highly recommend Shardul for those “tough” missions when you are in uncharted lands (or Planets) and need to get your product from concept to market.

The DC area is a tough nut as it's comprised of Maryland, DC, and Virginia; it's hard to get people from all three areas to participate in anything since everybody wants to be near their homes but Shardul has done it successfully.
The events are well-attended, with lots of involvement, and not just by the organizers.
His work as an organizer is a good indication of his work-ethic and abilities. He's task-oriented, a good communicator, and great at delegation. I would work with him again.

Source: LinkedIn John Mansour Dec 14, 2012I first met Shardul when he was speaking at ProductCampDC and knew immediately that I wanted to work with him. His passion and strategic vision for the then totally new field of lean product management was infectious. I had the pleasure of working with him for a year and got to observe his remarkable skills in all areas of product management (strategy, roadmap, business case, selling the ideas, navigating large & complex corporate structures, agile development & delivery and post implementation monitoring) but always with a focus on the customer. He is true professional to the core.

At an organization as large as Capital One, Shardul can be highlighted as a driving force for the product development culture. I had the pleasure of reporting to Shardul and found him to be a highly motivating and encouraging manager. He cares about his team and is passionate about their success, which to me is the key to a great people manager.

Always an advocate for the customer experience, he’s tireless in his desire to build the best products & features. Full of witty anecdotes and analogies, he’s able to explain complex challenges in a relatable and simplistic manner. As a mentor, he’s able to expand your vision, and help you realize your potential. Shardul is genuine and will do whatever it takes to ensure success.
