MenuOpen Book Management - Build a Transparent Company
Created 11 years ago in Business / Getting Started
Employees, for the most part, only care enough about the profits of the company to maintain their jobs. Why should they care? “If the rich owners want to get richer, we will react by protecting ourselves as workers.” I did what I advise every business owner to do: open the darn books. Teach what it is to be in business. Everyone in your business should understand profit, revenue, and cost of goods. Everyone should understand expenses, payroll, and margins. I promise that you have only to gain when everyone is on the same page, when they understand what they are doing, how they personally impact your company, and that they are valued by being smart enough to learn what you did. Imagination is always more wild than the truth.
That’s why transparency works. It supports the truth.

As this was my first 1-on-1 business coaching experience, I didn't know what to expect and what true value it would have for my business.
I'm delighted to say that I have been FLOORED by the insights Ruth has brought to the table and that she has been able to draw directly out of me --things I had no idea were holding me back, and ways to propel my business forward where it was stuck.
I highly recommend Ruth if you're looking for that *something* you just know is right behind the curtain. She'll help you find it.

Here we are going on yr. 4 of this recession, and if your business is struggling and you have yet to use a business consultant to help you move forward, you're crazy.
Luckily, if you live in Nevada County you're in luck. Ruth Schwartz opened up our books in early 2009 and immediately pointed out the problem. We jumped right in to fix that problem and haven't looked back since.
Our gross revenues are back up to where they were before the recession hit and we have several new profit centers that we are continuing to develop. Make no mistake, if you bring Ruth into your business she will make you work hard and hold you accountable. But that is exactly what it takes to succeed in this business environment.
Ruth Schwartz will get you back on track. That's certainly what she did for us at Clientworks.

And as the owner-manager I'm held accountable to planning and forward thinking that I always thought I was to busy to do. Ruth always seams to be one step ahead of me. She is a motivating and empowering business coach. With a wealth of business experience and knowledge. My only regret is that we didn't meet sooner.

I have attended 3 of Ruth's business workshops. She was dynamic and they were enlightening. I now know where to best spend my time, have identified and enhanced my strengths and have moved forward into 2009 with a plan for success that's working!

She has the rare combination of book-learning and on-the-ground experience that make for a powerful business coach. And her energy and enthusiasm are infectious!
Ruth has already built one multi-million dollar business from scratch, and I'm sure she's in the process of repeating the task--this time, by helping others learn from her decades of management and executive experience.
