Results-Driven Design

Ron has been a mentor and educator with Micrometrics for over a year. He has provided instruction, direction and guidance to help our design program grow and develop. Ron provided formal design education sessions including exercises in:
* business modeling
* journey mapping
* scenario development
* user research
* usability testing techniques
* persona development

Having access to Ron's skills and knowledge helped us deliver quickly, responding to various UX related needs as they materialized, and our ongoing relationship helped maintain a clear focus on the advancement of UX in our organization despite the ebbs and flows of the daily grind.

Ron's workshops were a great help for junior staff to adopt best practices and develop new skills as well as helping management clarify and proof their strategy. Working with him has always been a pleasure - I recommend his services to anyone looking to understand how design fits into their organization and build a successful UX program.

Ron presented an insightful educational talk “Putting Scenarios to Work in Product Envisioning” to a group of product managers (professionals and entrepreneurs) during the Ottawa Product Management Association (OPMA) Product Management Association (OPMA) Product Camp event. The audience was curious about how to use scenarios in products that do into exist.

Ron did a great job in getting the audience to understand the process of creating scenarios. His interactive style and building an example of a simple scenario with a volunteer guest greatly increased the understanding of the process. His talk left the audience wanting to learn more about the scenario process and tools.

Ron was the design mentor for our Extreme Blue (EB) project at IBM. Ron worked closely with us while developing our product pitch in preparation for the EB North American Expo, where we presented to technical and business executives within IBM. Ron's understanding of how to tell a story around a product or idea was crucial in the success of our project.

I have worked on a number of initiatives with Ron while at IBM. Our most recent project together involved Ron leading a team of developers, designers and managers through an intense 1 week software design cram session where the goal was to come up with a customer scenario and accompanying product prototype. As we struggled to find consensus, Ron was able to quickly identify sticking points that were slowing our progress, and, using various techniques, was able to keep us focussed and productive. If it weren't for Ron we would have had little to show for ourselves after the week.

Ron has regularly impressed me with his deep knowledge of user experience design. I have seen his interpersonal skills shine when he is placed in the role of facilitator. I would gladly work with Ron again.

Ron and I have worked together on a number of projects. What I like most about Ron is his focus on the end user! Ron is a strong believer in user centered design. I recommend Ron for any organization that is interested in understanding and serving the needs of their users.

Working with Ron was always a pleasure. Ron is extremely knowledgeable in the UX domain and has superb customer and client interaction skills. I would not hesitate to recommend Ron as I feel he would be an asset to any organisation.

Ron is one of the most knowledgeable, and professional people I have ever worked with. Ron's work ethic is matched by his experience and enthusiasm for intelligent design. His willingness and patience to interpret and explain complex systems is a trait that is valuable in the usability world. As a guest speaker on Design and Usability, during my Web Design class for Public Relations, Ron gave my students valuable insight into the many ways usability touches not only web design but many other facets of both their professional and personal lives. His presentation was both educational and entertaining. He made it easy for the the students to relate to the topic and value the importance of usable products and tools.

Ron Gagnier is an excellent User Interface Designer. He has the ability to work at both a tactical and strategic level. He has a keen understand of UI design, usability, and applying his knowledge for the benefit of an organization or business.

Ron was a sharp Interaction Designer with a good eye for the underlying concepts of each design. Highly recommended.
