Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of optimizing your website and promoting your site to attract the right web traffic from search engines. When people think of SEO, they automatically think of Google. The reason is Google represents a majority of web traffic to websites. Google has an algorithm that they keep secret to help them rank websites based on keywords to rank pages. Google's algorithm is reported to have approximately 200 factors in determining a rank for a web page.
There are a lot of tactics, ideas, and processes that we discuss among the SEO community in ranking web pages. What we do agree is that link building is the primary tactic in getting your website ranked higher in search engines. There are other essential activities such as on-page SEO that you need to have your web page show up in the search results.
I have come up with my way of ranking web pages for my WordPress SEO agency that we do for our clients. My methodology follows industry best practices.
Website Health
The website is running fast and is humming like a bird. You can do a speed test using Google Developer - Page Speed test. This test is an essential analysis to give you an idea of the overall health of your website. You would need to know how to do technical SEO or find a web developer to help you with any of these fixes.
We are getting quality backlinks
You want to make sure that you are earning a building quality backlinks. You can determine quality backlinks by their domain authority, page authority, and their backlinks. You want to make sure that none of their backlinks are spammy because you do not want to get a toxic backlink from a website.
We are creating fantastic content
You want to create engaging content, solving a problem, answer a question for a website visitor. There is so much content being produced by everyone that it is hard to differentiate your self from other people. One way is to do a search for your keyword in Google and look at the top search results. See the content for those pages and develop content ten times better than your competitors.
We are doing on-page SEO
You want to make sure that your title tags, meta descriptions, headers, and URLs are using best SEO practices for getting ranked for keywords for that web page. On-page SEO may seem hard, but it is straightforward after some training. There are a set of things that you always need to look for across different web pages.
