I'm a serial entrepreneur in my 18th year in the Middle Kingdom as a Co-founder and President, International of Yolu which makes mobile apps for business professionals. After nearly two decades, China is in my heart and blood.
But that's probably because of the pollution....
I mentor at www.Chinaccelerator.com and www.haxlr8r.com and have previously been co-founder and CEO of Dada Asia which I exited; co-founder of Shouji Mobile acquired by China's largest internet comany Tencent (HKSE:0.700HK); VP of Int'l for Linktone (NASDAQ:LTON); founder and CEO of MIG which was acquired by Glu Mobile (NASDAQ:GLUU) and a founding executive as VP of Marketing and Sales for renren.com.
I got an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in The Netherlands in 1996, studied at Cambridge University in the UK in 1988 and have a B.S. in Business Administration from USC in L.A. in '89.
After graduating from college, I was a wild-eyed backpacker and worked my way around the world for a few years as a bartender in the Virgin Islands, a concierge/ski bum in the Swiss German Alps, an English teacher in post-revolution Prague, a housepainter in Norway, a grape picker in France and a BMW factory worker in Munich. Richard also traveled overland from Switzerland to Hong Kong in 1993 through hitchhiking and train travel via Siberia, Mongolia and Beijing. He also did a 5,000km solo mountain biking trip through Africa from Kenya to Capetown in 1996.
I have two little guys Made in China and speak Mandarin Chinese.
