MenuMy aim in the next 2-3 months is to program two short-term trading strategies in python. Which broker and courses do you recommend?
Currently, I am learning python and plan to use it with interactive brokers API.
Is it better to use any other programming language?
With python is there any specific library you would recommend?

Additionally, it is desired to already know the basics of Pandas, the popular Python data manipulation package, but this is no requirement. If you then want to apply your new 'Python for Data Science' skills to real-world financial data, consider taking the Importing and Managing Financial Data in Python course. When a company wants to grow and undertake new projects or expand, it can issue stocks to raise capital. Note that stocks are not the same as bonds, which is when companies raise money through borrowing, either as a loan from a bank or by issuing debt. Stock trading is then the process of the cash that is paid for the stocks is converted into a share in the ownership of a company, which can be converted back to cash by selling, and this all hopefully with a profit. When you follow a fixed plan to go long or short in markets, you have a trading strategy. This way, you can get an idea of the effectiveness of your strategy, and you can use it as a starting point to optimize and improve your strategy before applying it to real markets.
When you are using Python for finance, you will often find yourself using the data manipulation package, Pandas. For now, let us focus on Pandas and using it to analyse time series data. This section will explain how you can import data, explore, and manipulate it with Pandas. Finance data check out this video by Matt Macarty that shows a workaround. Make sure to install the package first by installing the latest release version via pip with pip install pandas-datareader. Aapl = pdr. Get_data_yahoo'AAPL', start=datetime.
Finance with pandas-data reader. No worries, though, for this tutorial, the data has been loaded in for you so that you do not face any issues while learning about finance in Python with Pandas. Aapl = quandl. Lastly, if you have already been working in finance for a while, you will probably know that you most often use Excel also to manipulate your data. In such cases, you should know that you can integrate Python with Excel.

Where would you invest $5M cash to provide an income and get good capital growth over the next 10 years?
100+ unit Apartment Buildings. With the ever increasing mortgage lending guidelines disqualifying an estimated 80+ percent of the U.S. population, America is fast becoming a renter nation. This is why guys like Robert Kiyosaki, Grant Cardone, etc., are bullish on apartments. Ridiculous financing can be negotiated with Fannie Mae on non-recourse loans to maximize leverage and cash flow. With the right properties, cost segregation can immediately increase cash flow and ROI. 100+ unit apartment buildings can offer a great return on a collateralized investment and fantastic tax advantages. This is why our current posture is looking solely for these types of properties.VP

I've purchased vested options from 2 past employers. What do I need to know & do in the first few weeks if an acquisition & an IPO happen? Specifics.
I've been through several acquisitions and a few IPOs. If the company is acquired, you should contact the CEO and the CFO to ask the price per share at which the company was acquired. If you have vested options, they should send you a letter letting you know whether your options are "in the money" should you choose to exercise them (your exercise price is lower than the acquisition price per share). If the company has an IPO, then look up the price of the shares and figure out if your shares are "in the money" (your exercise price is lower than the IPO price) and read through your options agreement and the company's S-1 filing to find out if there is a mandatory holding period before you can sell any shares you may purchase through your options. In an acquisition scenario, you are either exercising or not. In an IPO situation, depending upon your exercise price and the number of options you intend to exercise, there may be tax consequences you'll want to take into account and timing of exercise. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.TT

Are we going to have a stock crash late 2016 or early 2017?
Crystal balls are never as crystal clear as we would like when peering into the fortunes of the stock market. I've worked in the market for more than 35 years and can tell you no one truly has the answer to this question. I'd be happy to talk to you about my views and give an overview of the current market valuation and factors that could create more volatility in the coming months.RB

What does a Securities and Exchange Commission do, and what technology services/solutions does it need to operate?
The SEC is tasked to monitor, and punish if necessary illegal acts committed by trading in securities. They are the "Watch Dog" of Wall Street. Unfortunately, there are not enough skilled employees, and funds to really do their job, so a lot of unlawful acts slip through the cracks. The SEC does enforce their regs. and will levy huge fines and other sanctions. If you have additional questions, just call me. Thank you, Paul TrachtmanPT
