MenuDo companies look at targeted outdoor advertising?
The way google ad words and facebook provide targeted advertising on the internet, are there services which provide targeted advertising outdoors too i.e physical world?
Do companies look at targeted outdoor advertising? What kind of companies look for it?

Billboard ads have some of the worst response rates out there and some of the highest costs. The companies that look at things like billboards are the ones who probably won't pay the bills for your marketing services because they'll be bankrupt in 2 weeks since they make poor decisions.

Digital Billboards are making it much easier to brand, more affordable and get messages out. This year billboards around Giant Stadium will be displaying various messages, mostly branding. Small communities they work great. To drive down cost I've done them jointly with other non-competing businesses and wasn't my lowest cost way to attract a Customer, though was still affordable. Hope that helps
The companies with most to gain from outdoor advertising are physical stores, restaurants, etc. -- places where people do spontaneously go but whose primary difficulty is literally getting people in the door. A billboard or other kind of display can alert drivers (for instance) to a new place to stop in at. Signs tend to be remembered in a local context as well -- where it was seen ... where you were on your way to ... -- which helps remind people where the business is when they decide to look in later on.
The same applies to upcoming events, festivals, etc., which benefit from being remembered in the context of a locale.
Freeway billboards are notoriously low-converting. Yet they can be effective as well. By way of example, I saw one the other day beside the freeway for tattoo removal. It was an excellent ad -- very effective in raising the topic. Unfortunately, I have no tattoos to remove; so it was wasted on me. Worse still, they were pitching a forgettable name / URL. So even if I had a tattoo to remove and were now determined to pay for the service, I'd now end up going to Google -- where, the odds are, I'd find a different local company. Essentially, the company behind the billboard was advertising their niche (including their competitors) and not themselves.
In the marketing world, numerous techniques, including both traditional and non-traditional media, are used to attract and retain consumers. The purpose of this study was to identify the effectiveness of the case company’s advertising methods, namely, outdoor advertising and internet advertising, and then justify outdoor advertising as the most effective marketing method in the company. The study was implemented by conducting theoretical research and then analysing the data provided by the case company. The qualitative approach was used to obtain information about the participants’ personal responses or authors’ observations in the field. The results of the study showed that despite the popularity of advertising on the Internet, it was often associated with fraud and should not be considered as reliable as outdoor advertising. Outdoor advertising was identified as a facilitator of acquiring accurate access to data and elongating the advertising period at the same station. In marketing, outdoor advertising plays an integral role in creating awareness of a product and the sales of such goods. In a study conducted by Kotler, Wong, Saunders and Armstrong, the scholars note that outdoor advertising achieves this objective by influencing the decisions, behaviour, preferences and attitudes towards the product through explicit visual expression of the goods. The nature and design of the outdoor advertisement could increase or reduce their appeal to the potential customers, hence the reasons explaining the use of bright colours in painting the products. Moreover, the advertisements of a product using the outdoor method are erected outside using billboards or large posters, flyers, and brochures.
On the other hand, internet advertising is also widely used on smart phones, websites and in the social media. The internet services that Inetcom Company provides include websites, electronic mails, internet bundles, files transfer protocol, and telnet. On these platforms, many people including non-interested customers may in turn become attracted to the products being explicitly advertised or pop-up ads using outdoor and internet advertising, respectively.
Marketing through advertisement, according to Armstrong and Kotler, is important since it enables people to be made aware of new brands of the products a company produces and its benefits. The topic is also important as it helps the authors to evaluate the effectiveness of outdoor advertising compared to internet advertising in the context of the chosen company. However, traditional outdoor advertising still plays an important role in the company’s overall marketing campaign as admitted to us by the company’s marketing manager during a discussion. Berenson, Levine and Krehbiel , the increasingly complicated business world has led to the rise of several advertising platforms to compete with the outdoor method that the case company could as well adopt. The company’s perspective is that it finds this method useful because once an advertisement is imposed on a billboard and erected in a strategic location, many potential customers will have unlimited access to it and conform to its message. As the company continues to provide Internet products and services across the region, there is a similar growing need for information about their services to reach as many potential customers as possible. The issues highlighted above rationalize the choice of the topic and its relevance to the company and in the contemporary complex business world.
In terms of motivation, since Inetcom Company uses outdoor and internet forms of advertising, this thesis mainly evaluates the effectiveness of the outdoor method, hence prompting the company to use outdoor advertising as compared to the other forms of advertising, in this case, internet advertising. From the point of view of the company, the choice of this topic was motivated by the need to justify outdoor advertising as the most effective advertising method used in the company. This would make it possible to validate its continued use in the company compared to internet advertising. The company advertises its products, such as websites, electronic mails, files transfer protocol, and internet bundles, on different platforms which vary significantly.
In addition, the information about the contemporary, yet highly differentiated products of the company, is sometimes lacking in the market, and, thus, most customers are not aware that such products exist. From the viewpoints of the industry/society, the motivation for choosing this topic was to create awareness of the products that the company produces using the most efficient, cost-effective, and reliable advertising method. Noting that the service sector/industry, into which the company falls, continues to undergo changes to provide essential services to customers, there is a similar need to select the best advertising platform to deliver the information about the services to the potential customers . From our viewpoint, the motivation to choose this topic was to evaluate the effectiveness of outdoor advertising as a significant marketing tool in the company compared to the internet advertising method.

How to promote a paid iOS app to increase downloads ?
Your best bet to get traction quickly in USA is to advertise on mobile ad networks. You may need to advertise on CPM/CPC basis instead of CPI if you have a paid app so make sure you understand your user lifetime value and watch conversion rates closely so you don't overspend. That said, depending on what your niche/vertical is, there are many other ways to market non-gaming apps.SR

What are some tips for boot-strap marketing to gain awareness and website visits for a start-up?
There is a tremendous amount of buzz surrounding content marketing and its need within a brand’s overall marketing strategy. Doing content marketing is much more than publishing on your blog occasionally and posting your thoughts on social media. “Do stuff and maybe it will work” is not a strategy, it is a gamble. A risky and expensive one, at that. Even so, many brands have yet to create an effective content marketing strategy. What does such a strategy look like? Where are the examples of brands doing it well? Here, I will show you examples of an effective content marketing strategy and offer ways for you to craft your own for your business. What is Content Marketing Content marketing’s purpose is to attract and retain customers by consistently creating and curating relevant and valuable content with the intention of changing or enhancing consumer behavior. It is an ongoing process that is best integrated into your overall marketing strategy, and it focuses on owning media, not renting it. This generation of customers are taking drastic steps to avoid marketing messages. As consumers, we use DVRs to skip television ads, pay internet radio subscription fees to avoid commercials, mentally block out — or use plug-ins to avoid — internet click ads, and gloss over road-side billboards, rendering them useless and ineffective. So how are marketers supposed to combat this shift? Education. Consumers are still buying and making purchases, but the way they go about making a decision has changed. With all of the world’s information at their finger tips, savvy consumers are doing enormous amounts of learning and self-education before stepping into a showroom or talking to a salesperson. Knowing this is a huge opportunity for brands. If you know consumers are looking for information, be the source of that information. Not with sales-y content that puts your priorities before theirs, but information that the buyer really wants and needs. The Marketing and Sales Departments must align to create a buying path for this new era of consumers that provides authentic and transparent information about a product or service (the mission of Marketing) and closing the sale (the mission of Sales). Content marketing closes this gap by using brand-created educational content to satisfy the prospective buyer while helping the sales team convert anonymous visitors into buyers. Thought leaders and marketing experts from around the world, including the likes of Seth Godin and hundreds of the leading thinkers in marketing have concluded that content marketing isn’t just the future, it’s the present (see the video below on the history of content marketing): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OHgMMpGLzk The key ingredient to using content to attract new customers is in the advanced planning. The strategy. What is a Content Marketing Strategy A content marketing strategy is a roadmap; a “User’s Guide” to how your brand will do the following: - Meet the customer at their specific point within their buying cycle - Align the customer’s needs with your knowledge and expertise - Use your brand’s assets to meet these objectives Business-to-Business marketers who have a documented content marketing strategy are 66% more likely to consider themselves effective compared to only 11% of those without a documented strategy. A content marketing plan helps you see the end-game before you have even started. Further, it gives a clear, articulable vision for your entire team and keeps you on track throughout the campaign. Just like New Years resolutions often fade into a foggy memory, our intentions are good – but we allow resolutions to fail. To be successful in any strategy, we need to be intentional. For proper sales and marketing alignment, and for the success of your bottom line, you must have a plan in place. How to Start Your Content Strategy The framework of a content marketing strategy is fairly straight forward: - Who are you targeting? What are their needs? - How are you going to reach them? (Attract new and nurture existing) - What content do you have now to get started? - What is your plan to develop and share more - How will you measure your efforts 1. Personas Take some time to consider who you are targeting. Are they male or female? Does it matter? Do they have a career? Children? Are they affluent? Coupon cutters? What are their goals? What happens if they do not reach them? Is their a monetary penalty for them? Will meeting this goal further their career? Will it make them happy? Clearly defining your targeted personas will save you a lot of time, energy, and money as you continue your business. With this person in mind, your content marketing strategy will begin to fall into place and you will feel that you are having a conversation with this “person”, rather than blindly throwing stuff out there. 2. Outreach Content marketing and social media are often used synonymously. This is a mistake. Content marketing is a broad method of marketing whereas social media is a tool that complements getting your content seen. Imagine your website as your online hub, where all of your brand-controlled content resides, your social media profiles are spokes that lead back to your home base. Social media has the power to reach incredible numbers of potential customers, influencers, existing customers, and even the opportunity to convert customers from competitors. Social media, in and of itself, is not content marketing. It is one of your outreach tools. 3. Available Content Next, take stock of materials you have on hand already. Many of us sit in offices filled with brochures, flyers, handouts, manuals, and documents loaded with helpful information, but we do little to extend that information to potential customers on the web. Make a list of the content available to you immediately and start identifying which persona is most aligned, where they are within their sales process, and what pain point they are currently facing. Getting started, you can use what you have on hand. But I recommend expecting this low-hanging fruit to run out. You should plan on developing your own, unique content. For a number of reasons, search engines reward fresh, unique content. Further, your prospective customers will be looking for information that is not available everywhere. Your unique perspective and “voice” (the tone in which you talk, the way you communicate, and what you share) may be the first experience a prospective customer has with you. This is the beginning of a long business relationship. 4. Schedule and Share Your Content After you have compiled your educational materials, grab a calendar. I recommend looking out 3-4 months to start. Mark holidays, special events, and milestones. Working backwards, prepare your marketing message for these campaigns. For example, one client of ours hosts 4-5 annual sales. They all surround major US holidays (New Years, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving/Black Friday). By knowing this, it is easy for us to prepare everything from banner ads, Pinterest images, blog posts, Facebook Status, videos, and even newspaper ads (don’t shoot the messenger). Once you have those events marked, consider a “theme” of the week for those 3-4 months. With that theme, and your personas in mind, write out the following for each week: - 2 Blog Posts - 8-10 Facebook updates - 20-30 Twitter updates - 4-5 product photos for Pinterest - 3-4 Instagram ideas - 1 Video By no means is this list all-inclusive. It is a starting point to get you thinking about how to plan content. To get a specific content marketing plan designed for your brand, I need to interview you and understand your goals, personas, and timeline. 5. Analytics Finally, how are you going to measure your work? Remember when we set up our goals earlier? Were you specific in identifying how many leads you want to generate? “Get more leads” is a horrible strategy, better is “Gain 50 new leads by September 1st” or “increase from 6% conversion rate to 12% conversion rate” These types of goals are easily measured and tracked. Do you have a mechanism in place to measure, monitor, and gauge your efforts? Further, do you have the right people on your team to help you know what is working and what is not? Can you explain why certain marketing dollars are generating a return on your investment while others fall flat? Final Thoughts Just like runners know the course of the race before they start, your brand should know the route you will take to your finish line. Having a strong content marketing strategy in place will ensure your team is setup for success. I'm happy to help and provide more specifics. All the best, -ShaunSN

How do you get your first customers for a consulting business?
Back when I started LinkedIn wasn't as huge as it is now. I wish it was. I didn't have a large network and those networking sessions NEVER brought me any clients. I used to go to all sorts of them hoping to get clients. There were a couple of nibbles here and there, but never anything serious. The only thing that helped was reaching out DIRECTLY to people in my target market. That meant cold calls and cold emails. I'd sell myself while thinking about their needs. Once I got a few bites I'd build good rapport by keeping in touch, asking questions, repeating back what they were saying so that they knew I was on the same page and kept my promises. If I said I'd call them back next Tuesday at 2:15 I'd do so. Eventually I built trust with them without having a network, or an insane amount of experience. Oh and the most important thing about consulting is to LISTEN. When those first clients notice that you're truly listening and you're not selling the cookie cutter solutions everyone else is trying to sell them that's when you got them hooked. You start to understand their problems, fears, and see through their eyes and not just yours. A network will help, but in the beginning just good 'ol salesmanship will get the ball rolling.JC

About to launch our new eCommerce website selling well priced unique watches. What is the best initial marketing strategy to use with minimal cost?
Here are some answers for you that I believe will help you. 1. You should implement a long term and short term strategy right at the beginning. What I mean is that there are essential parts to your marketing like SEO and content marketing that you need to implement right in the beginning, but will take a while to filter through, but these are essential if you want to have organic traffic. That would be L-T. The best for Short term for a newly launched site is ad's. Word of warning though. Know your customers demographics such as age, income, education etc, know your competitors demographics and then find the platform (such as social media channels) where your ideal customer is based on those researched demographics and then roll out targeted ad's for them. 2. You have to implement social media strategies right from the beginning of course, based on your demographic research. 3. Get busy Blogging - start with content marketing now. 4. Sweepstakes - start a giveaway to get traction with clients and create awareness. 5. Make sure you collect emails as these are like gold dust for future email marketing. 6. Video marketing is essential for competitive retail space and very powerful to get found on search engines like Google. Prior to me launching my digital marketing business 5 years ago, I built an online retail business and made many expensive mistakes. And they can be costly if not implemented correctly from the beginning. So in summary: SEO - very important, Ad's, Social Media, Sweepstakes, Blogging, Video & email marketing. I trust this will assist you. Let me know if you wish to have a call to discuss these or have follow up questions. Regards KennethKT
