MenuHow can I learn how to successfully build an online platform/ecosystem for a niche industry?
We are building a HUB for our niche industry that includes a knowledge center, directories (think Angie's list), a community (think Facebook). I have access to top tech talent who are helping me build the site but could use some strategic help.

There is so much to unpack in your question. To best answer, I would need to understand much more about your product, vision, customer base, team, and what you mean by "strategic help."
You obviously have some questions in mind that need answering, without more details, I cannot answer those questions specifically.
I'd be happy to book a call with you to discuss further.
I have a few posts on my website that may help, again, without knowing what you're looking for, it is hard to answer you directly. =)
1. https://www.shaunnestor.com/how-to-find-clients-as-a-freelancer/ (Replace "Freelancer" with whatever title you give your platform)
2. https://www.shaunnestor.com/how-to-build-an-online-business-with-little-to-no-experience/
I've found that those two articles generally give people the next steps they are looking for.
Again, feel free to book a call with me, if you'd like to discuss specifics.
All the best,

The key strategy for what you are trying to do is that:
1. You need to attract a critical mass of community members of high quality.
2. You need to be strict about moderating the community, to keep it from deteriorating into a Facebook type environment. This includes responding to "experts" on your forums who give bad advice.
If you can build a hub which attracts top-notch people in that niche, who interact and create a high level of value, even when you aren't on, then you will have success.
Also, don't focus on trying to monetize it. First, build a quality, critical mass of regular users. Then, as you discuss things, you can find demand for products/services that you can offer gently, without forcing it on them.
You should need digital marketing experts to market your hub. You shouod search for digital marketing tools that drive traffic to hub. Use facebook and linkedin marketing extensively. Also use youtube explainer video to explain to new people about the benefit of your hub. These are the steps you can take to successfully build a hub.
For more detail advice and help from me just hire me. It is cheap.

What does the evolution of a company profile (staff, rev, etc.) look like of growing a tech consulting company from startup to $1M of revenue look like?
Traditionally agencies and consulting firms grow vertically through a pyramid structure adding junior layers and mid level professionals who can be paid at a lower level and then billed back at higher rates to the clients as they scale once the rainmaker fills the pipeline. Another option is to grow horizontally and compensate people for bringing in work thereby gaining leverage through a network effect of casting a wider net. Both ways can work it is a matter of strengths and preferences.PA

How I can find a profitable niche for my consulting business?
Hi, Great question to post. I've been in your situation a number of times so understand where you are coming from. Both from startup's i've had through to working on Go To Market strategies in large businesses. The first place i would look to is defining geographically where i wish to cover e.g a local area or national or do i wish to span several countries? Next, look at the new business "birth" rate and "death" rate within that region. This will give you an idea of a high level gross add's and net businesses you could work with assuming you wish to be helping them in their "early life startup phase". Depending on how specific your new product is, you should look to segment further. However I am a big fan of looking at my customers or potential customers based on how they behave and "Buy" - too often we get focused on how to "sell" to new customers but not understand the former. Also, think about this. Are they motivated to participate in your coaching program, or are you looking for people that require motivation to make their business successful, in turn they are looking for coaching? Again this will then help you to further drill down into "who" the clients are and "Why" they buy. It will also define where you should be networking etc or finding new business. Happy to talk further over Skype or Google Hangouts if you wish to. I'm based in New Zealand, currently working for a global SaaS provider. NZ is +12 GMT. Cheers GuyGA

What tools and resources would you recommend for those who have ADHD, who have decided to start a business?
You know I have never come across such tools. I did get a chance to work with an entrepreneur who has ADHD, I served as his business adviser. Our setup was that he did not spend time on things unless we talked about it first and I held him to super tight schedules. It workout great! His tool sales business is doing fantastic here in Glendale,AZ. On another note, I think every entrepreneur suffers from this but we call it drowning in opportunity! Lol. Best of luck in all that you do! Humberto Valle Unthink StrategyHV

How can I start a brainstorming strategy service to help novice entrepreneurs?
I think as others have said, that idea itself may not be quite right and you are looking to us to brainstorm. However, I do know someone who does exactly this, for free. He makes his money by facilitating the ability of others to think outside their proverbial boxes, using what at the core, is basically workshop facilitation. That's an easier sell than 'professional ear' as the market is kind of there already. You don't have to know much about the business to facilitate a workshop or coach per se, as you need to concentrate on the facilitation. Many people like me can't think and facilitate at the same time. :-D Especially if you're too close to the problem. So effectively you get called in ad hoc to facilitate workshops to allow all the firepower in the room to concentrate on the problem at hand. It doesn't mean you can't structure a session where you give advice at certain points or when asked. However, that risks exposure. You can always help by researching after the fact, where the team has found key questions they want answering. Write them on a post it and take them with you. If you become a millionaire off these ideas. I'll take 10% ;)EA
