MenuHow should I advertise the first item I'm selling on my website?
Im selling an iPhone case that I know will be intriguing to my target market. I realize that in order to bring in sales I have to advertise. I'm targeting females aged 15-40. Where should I advertise?
Answers
You should first figure out your audience more specifically.
Females 15-40 is very broad. Will all of that audience like the 1 product you have..?
Get specific before you advertise. For example - you are selling iphone cases so you would ideally like the ability to target only people with iphones.
Facebook seems a logical place to start as you can plug in your current profile of iphone users females ages 15-40.
Location - local national or international..?
(Im going to guess local & national)
Also you might want to consider the style of your cases will appeal to certain types of people more than others.
If you have a minions case (hot at the time of writing as the first minion movie is out)
This might currently have a broad appeal because of the movie.
So you can also add in this as an interest when you promote your cases on facebook.
Or if you are selling leather folding iphone cases there might be a different type of person who would be more interested.
It might be more of a male/female mix as well who are slightly older 30+ at a guess (of course I would need to research - this is purely for illustration)
My point hopefully is that before you start advertising you need to figure out who your advertising to and what specifically they will want.
Facebook is a great place to start as you have so many choices to only promote your products to exactly the people who are interested in what you are offering.
Hope this helps
Good Luck
Phil
ps.
If you need help with this I can offer a strategy session to help with this part of your business plan - this will help you build a solid base for you businesses long term success.
Call me
I'd probably start with social media marketing as a way to build interest in your product. You can run paid social ads, but that works best with a solid social media plan in place, one that covers multiple social networks.
From there you can run some pay-per-click ads directed to a landing page on your website. Once you get yourself established you should then move into a full-scale web marketing campaign.
You have two major challenges:
1. Driving traffic to your website.
2. Making them buy there.
A single SKU does not usually make an Internet business. What is the product? What is your current web traffic. who/where is it coming from, Is there already a want and desire for it in the market?
If you do not clearly know these answers, then you must rethink the whole process.
If you have a single product that is consumer oriented, plant seeds by testing on Amazon and/or eBay. The most female-skewed social media site is Pinterest if your product may sell via visuals.
Your question is screaming "I need a Business and Marketing Plan." You must start there.
It is easy to advertise your new product.
1. Send Free Samples to Influencers.
2. Start Blogging.
3. Build an Email List.
4. Sponsor an Event.
5. Interview Industry Influencers.
6. Pull a PR Stunt.
7. Experiment with AdWords.
8. Share the Load with Affiliate Marketing.

How do you build social media presence up before a product launch?
It can certainly be tough to build up a substantial follower base, starting from nothing or very little, especially if you haven't launched your product yet. But here are a few tactics to help you get in front of more people pre-launch: 1) Start sharing tons of useful content. Before you bother sending people to your Twitter feed or Facebook page, you want to make sure they'll find something valuable once they get there. If you have the time, create original content that ties into your industry, your product, or your company in some way (without directly promoting yourself, though). If you don't have the bandwidth to create your own content, find other articles from bloggers you admire or experts in your industry, and share their content. Just make sure you're putting out information that's highly relevant and valuable to the audience you're trying to attract so you can engage them once they find you. 2) Create conversation. The people who aren't following you yet aren't seeing your tweets, so how do you show them value and get them to discover you? Start a conversation! At Change Collective, we're rolling out our first course on Becoming an Early Riser. So I'll do a Twitter search for "need to wake up earlier" and find a bunch of people who are tweeting about the exact problem we're setting out to solve. By favoriting their tweets or replying with -- "That's great! We think we can help - check out our newest course & let us know what you think!" -- I'm getting our product on their radar and simultaneously providing value to them. 3) Ask for help. Start with your fellow team members, and ask them to share the company's Facebook posts or retweet some of your tweets. You can even create lazy tweets for them to share. What about your board members? Advisors? VCs? They all have a stake in helping your company grow awareness and adoption, so find an easy and appropriate way for them to help by leveraging their networks. And if you have friends and family who are excited about your business and supportive of what you're doing, they probably won't mind a friendly request to help spread the news every once in a while. Hope this helps! I just joined an early-stage startup and I'm currently building up our marketing from scratch. Happy to jump on a call and offer some tips from the trenches if you'd like. Best of luck!SB

What are the best ad networks to use in my mobile game for great ROI?
I guess the best answer is, it depends. What kind of mobile game are you marketing? Who are you targeting? For what platform? (iOS, Android?) Different ad networks work better than others depending on the type of game. A good place to start would be MoPub, MDotM, Manage, and Insight.JS

About to launch our new eCommerce website selling well priced unique watches. What is the best initial marketing strategy to use with minimal cost?
Here are some answers for you that I believe will help you. 1. You should implement a long term and short term strategy right at the beginning. What I mean is that there are essential parts to your marketing like SEO and content marketing that you need to implement right in the beginning, but will take a while to filter through, but these are essential if you want to have organic traffic. That would be L-T. The best for Short term for a newly launched site is ad's. Word of warning though. Know your customers demographics such as age, income, education etc, know your competitors demographics and then find the platform (such as social media channels) where your ideal customer is based on those researched demographics and then roll out targeted ad's for them. 2. You have to implement social media strategies right from the beginning of course, based on your demographic research. 3. Get busy Blogging - start with content marketing now. 4. Sweepstakes - start a giveaway to get traction with clients and create awareness. 5. Make sure you collect emails as these are like gold dust for future email marketing. 6. Video marketing is essential for competitive retail space and very powerful to get found on search engines like Google. Prior to me launching my digital marketing business 5 years ago, I built an online retail business and made many expensive mistakes. And they can be costly if not implemented correctly from the beginning. So in summary: SEO - very important, Ad's, Social Media, Sweepstakes, Blogging, Video & email marketing. I trust this will assist you. Let me know if you wish to have a call to discuss these or have follow up questions. Regards KennethKT

Is it possible to start a Social Media Marketing Agency with not much experience in Social Media and not much money?
I have to ask why you would start an agency in an area you don't have much experience in. Perhaps you'd be better off getting at least a little experience first?AV

What is the best timing in the new year to launch business marketing?
Hi there! In few words, the launch date does not matter a lot as long as you are following with a continuous marketing plan all the year. It is better to tune your lunch date according to your marketing campaign than connecting it to the seasonal event. The timing of your launch only matters if your website is already ranked or has a good authority associated to it. Launching a website is not like opening a local shop. The launch date is defined by the effectiveness of your marketing campaign. In other words, your question must be rephrased as: "When is the best time to launch my first marketing campaign for my newly created website?". In that case, you will need to describe in details what kind of website you have and how are you planning to market it. I would be able to give you a more accurate answer if you explain to me what kind of website are you planning to launch or what products mainly are you selling. Hope that helps!RZ
