On the first day of class Peter said we wouldn't be needing a textbook. The class rejoiced. As I sat there, I began to question what kind of class it would be: A blow off? Was he a careless professor? But as I listened, I got the overwhelming feeling that Peter might be onto something the rest of his colleagues hadn't reached yet. Mr. Risman taught "Google". The information we studied was current, relevant, and timely. Most classes are small steps towards a degree; Peter's class was a small step towards a career. Lessons I learned in that classroom were immediately relevant in my professional life. When you start taking your notes to work, you know you're finally learning something valuable.
As if it wasn't enough to give us the tools we needed in our careers, Peter would often aid students in actually getting jobs- myself included. Even though attendance wasn't mandatory, I never missed a class. The information was too valuable. Peter cares about the work he does. He's a realist and a straight shooter. I was lucky to have him as a professor.

I can say this from personal experience as, just today, I received an email from LinkedIn stating I was in the top 5% of viewed profiles. I achieved this success using techniques I learned in my Internet Marketing class at Texas State University in the Spring of 2011. As an insurance agent, I do not market a product online, but a service that includes my expertise. I used the curriculum taught to drive traffic to my website, create value, and finally close the deal in an easy way for my clients. If you're looking for help marketing yourself or your products online, driving traffic to your website, or just making yourself show up on Google, Mr. Risman would be the very first name to come to my mind!

Pete and I worked together when Gateway Marketing International was just getting off the ground.
