Time Management

Time management is a critical skill if you want to succeed in what you are undertaking. It allows you to navigate a very busy and more complicated life without losing your sanity.

I have first hand knowledge what it means to be highly efficient and organized even in the face of chaos and very demanding opposing forces of daily life, as I have been juggling as a single parent, entrepreneur, business owner and webmaster for a non-profit organization.

I would like to let the world know about a very special person; Laurence Furic. For years I observed Laurence from a far and was impressed with her abilities to cope with stressful situations (that would be overwhelming to me) with serenity and control. Then I had the opportunity to work with Laurence on a very complicated and time consuming project; a major fundraiser that was to be processed through a new web based program that I had discovered but was beyond my capabilities. Laurence ran with the project and handled every aspect of it. The result was a success on all levels. During the months Laurence was working on the on-line aspects of our fundraiser she was also the Webmaster Extraordinaire of our fledgling website. She updated content, added to, wherever possible, the vibrancy of the site and integrated it with our fundraiser. As a volunteer, in her spare time (as if she or anyone has such a thing), she essentially took a bland and uninteresting webpage to an attractive, user friendly website. Laurence is an exceptionally capable and dedicated individual who I know I can always depend.

It is my pleasure to recommend Laurence Furic to you as a skilled Website developer/maintainer. Laurence manages the website for the Jewish Family Congregation of South Salem, NY. In this role, she maintains and updates the content of the website to announce the ongoing and special activities of the congregation. She also uploads documents that are used for various online transactions for the congregation, such as registration for the religious school, the Early Childhood Center, and the JFC summer camp. Laurence manages and monitors JFC’s “online presence”, ensuring that parts of the website open to the public are searchable, while ensuring the parts that are limited to congregants are properly access-controlled.

In addition to her technical skills, Laurence’s people skills are also excellent. Her work involves close interaction with the JFC administrative and religious staff, the board of directors, and congregants. She is a very good communicator, invariably articulate, modest, funny and engaging. I recommend her highly.

As Chairperson of the 2010 JFC Auction & Dinner, I had the opportunity to work with Laurence on a weekly basis in her role as Technology Chair of the event. She was one of five key members of our team that evaluated and then selected the cloud-based software solution that we used - ReadySetAuction. She was the point person for the rest of the team (20+ people) in helping us understand how to utilize RSA's capabilities, and when necessary, conducted training sessions, both in-person and over the phone with team members. She played this role tirelessly over the course of six months. On many occasions, Laurence searched on-line documentation or contacted the vendor to understand the ins and outs of the software; both of which she did quickly and cheerfully. She also worked with RSA to upload our historical data. Laurence spent countless hours making sure that our on-line auction catalog looked great (adding pictures, weblinks, insuring consistency of descriptions, etc.) and as a result received many compliments from members and friends of JFC. Bottom line, we could not have made the leap we did this year to using on-line auction and event management software, without Laurence's expertise and cheerful/friendly assistance.
