I graduated from Northwestern University in 2011 with a degree in English, concentrating in creative non-fiction writing. Effective writing is both art and science. It takes practice, imagination, structure, knowledge, and a hint of unconventionality. It also requires understanding you, from your audience to your competition, from your personality to your purpose. Abstract ideas, visions, and feelings evolve into something concrete: a message, a moral, a call to action. Storytelling is more than stringing words together; it's constructing a vivid narrative complete with imagery, voice, and punch.
