Michael Furdyk Catalyst Fellow at HP

I've known and worked with Michael Furdyk since he was a teenager. Rather than use his "winnings" as Dotcom wunderkind to buy a sports car, Michael formed a non-profit to change the world.

It has been a real pleasure to see him grow as a speaker, thinker and leader. His energy, drive and vision seem limitless.

Michael was invited by me to speak at the EARCOS Global Issues Network conference in Manila 17-19 February 2012.

To be writing a recommendation for Michael seems somewhat ludicrous in light of his incredible achievements and so what I want to add is that he is really cool down to earth guy as well as being a superstar. When he spoke about his life in a presentation I was aware that I was in the presence of someone special. When we sat down to chat I felt like I was speaking to an old friend.

The highest recommendation I can give Michael is that we are scrambling to get him back to the EARCOS teachers conference.

Michael's TakingITGlobal.Org is a continuing testament to how the Internet can really be a venue for genuinely interactive networking for anyone (may they be from the developing world or the G7, whatever language/religion/gender/age they may be, etc.). He also impresses me with his still down-to-earth, personable, & considerate approach towards any TakingITGlobal.Org member. Unlike other typical IT geniuses who achieved financial success & fame early in life only to end up burning themselves out or getting out of touch with people, Michael always has his pulse on the real world, so I see him and any project he undertakes to only soar even more to really make a difference in the world.

Michael is an inspiring leader in the field of creativity, learning, and technology. I am cheering him and his TakingIT Global pals on!

I served on TIG's advisory board from 2001 to 2003, and am still impressed by Mike's commitment, vision and passion. TIG's site has led the youth online space in scope and functionality, and that is, in large part, due to his talent and knowledge.
