I live and breathe social media, content creation, and defining creative voices online. Prior: Wired, Wikia,Yahoo.
Meighan is a wonderful teacher and a fantastic person to work with. She took me under her wing at Wired, when I interned in Community/Social, and taught me everything I know about cultivating healthy online communities. She’s incredibly thoughtful, patient, and exceptionally talented in all things digital.
Meighan was a delight to work with. Her knowledge around publishing and the social web was essential for our collaborative work. I feel like there are a lot of people in the internet realm that just talk to say things. Meighan listens and chooses her words wisely.
Meighan's highly influential art blog/journal was driven by passion for a rather invisible part of the art world prior to its publication. As an artist, Meighan connected with me personally, rather than my just being a story to tell.
Highly infectious, well-written, carefully considered and thoroughly researched content continues to set Meighan's work apart from the current generation and spinoffs.
A true original herself, she's able to seemingly effortlessly connect artists and their work with a viral, global audience. Although we all know it takes more than that to get a rabid audience, but perhaps not quite as well as Meighan.
I know Meighan as the founder of My Love For You, one of the earliest and most influential art blogs to arise in digital publishing. She understood the dynamics of building a loyal and engaged online community through original content and active conversation. One organic follower at a time, Meighan single handedly grew her community into the thousands. Several of my clients were fortunate to have been covered on My Love For You during its time of publication, something that had an immensely positive impact on their exposure and brand positioning in the art world.
Meighan and I worked together on the Community Support Team at Wikia, serving more than 3 million users across over 200,000 wiki communities. Meighan has a natural sense for community building, and was an integral part of our team. She focused on building out our founder community, creating relatable content, community building initiatives and lasting relationships between staff and key community members.
Meighan knows how to digest community concerns and offer solutions - both to the community members and internal stakeholders. I highly trust her assessments and recommendations for beginning and growing online communities.
Meighan is motivated, creative, and passionate about what she does. No matter how busy she is, she'll take the time to thoughtfully give feedback and insights when I ask her for help with something. She's also a sharp writer and excellent communicator. It's clear that Meighan really cares about the people behind the online communities she helps build and grow -- this makes her an amazing asset to the Community Support team at Wikia.
