Software Architect. Technology Advisor. Problem Solver. 30+ years building software. AWS, cloud, AI & distributed systems. Technology fixer, architecture strategist, and fractional technology leader.
I advise founders who need senior technical leadership without hiring a full-time CTO. We can talk architecture, engineering teams, vendors, roadmaps, technical debt, hiring, or how to turn a business idea into a realistic technical plan.
I’ll help you make sense of complex technical decisions, evaluate your current architecture, or design the right approach before you spend months building the wrong thing. I bring 30+ years of software engineering and architecture experience to the conversation.
Need a second set of eyes on your AWS architecture? I can help with system design, scalability, reliability, cloud costs, deployment strategy, and identifying architectural problems before they become expensive ones.
Software project behind schedule, over budget, or just not working? I’ll help you figure out what’s actually wrong, what’s salvageable, and what I’d do next. I’m especially useful when you need an experienced technical perspective independent of the development team.
Need to know what was actually built? I can independently review software architecture, repositories, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, technical claims, and implementation progress and help you understand what you really have.
I’ve dealt with race conditions quite a bit in distributed systems. The fix really depends on where the race is happening.
For duplicate writes, I usually start with idempotency and enforce uniqueness at the database level. For competing updates, optimistic locking or atomic database operations are often enough.
Across multiple services, I’ll typically use patterns like idempotent consumers, transactional outbox, or sagas rather than trying to lock everything across the system.
The biggest thing is not to over-engineer it. First identify the actual race... duplicate writes, lost updates, out-of-order events, etc. then put the consistency guarantee as close to the data as possible.
If you want to walk through your specific architecture and race condition, feel free to book a call.
