What is the best job to get to learn to become an entrepreneur? Working at a VC as an analyst? Work in Sales? Work in Marketing? Consulting?

Based on my experience, sales and marketing are the best starting points for anyone who wants to become an entrepreneur.

Sales teaches you how to communicate value, close deals, and generate revenue—all skills I’ve used when growing my own communities and trading programs. You learn resilience, negotiation, and the ability to handle rejection, which are essential for entrepreneurship.

Marketing, on the other hand, shows you how to create demand, grow an audience, and build a brand—skills I’ve mastered while growing my Instagram and TikTok accounts to thousands of followers and helping others do the same. Marketing also helps you learn customer behavior, data-driven decision-making, and scalable strategies, which are invaluable when running a business.

Both roles focus on attracting and converting customers, something I’ve done firsthand through community engagement and content creation. Compared to other paths like consulting or VC, sales and marketing are more hands-on and directly aligned with the realities of entrepreneurship.
