Hey,
One thing that I would do, if possible, is to try and get some time with everyone on the team individually. Work out what sort of challenges they are facing, what they like, what the dislike, etc. Also, take the time to hear them as 'people'. Furthermore, spend time communicating what your values are, why they are important to you and what your 'philosophy' of managing/leading is. In my experience this makes the transition much easier for everyone.
I really hope it goes well! All the best.

Jonny is a born leader, any task appears easy and manageable when he explains it, i had a great time working along side him. He is an academic and a hard worker and this well rounded approach shows every time in the work he produces. Genuinely couldn't think of a role he wouldn't excel in.
Jonny is great leader in many ways and for many reasons. he is energetic, outgoing, and enthusiastic which are some great qualities that I think are crucial for a leadership position. Jonny worked hard to lead and develop a team of young people. With a lot of time and effort Jonny strives to achieve the best. Not only is Jonny a good leader he is also a team player and works well with others to get the job done on time, on task, and also looks for the most creative way to do so. I would recommend Jonny in a heartbeat.
Jonny was a fantastic supervisor during our shared time at Fortwilliam and Macrory. He is an incredibly thoughtful individual, and as a supervisor his direction was clear and collaborative.
As a newcomer to Belfast, he went out of his way to ensure that I adjusted well to area as well as the new position. I'm sorry our time together was so short!
Jonny and I were fellow undergraduates between 2007-2010. Over the course of our studies Jonny stood out as a capable, confident and endearing student. Unsurprisingly, an enviable combination of natural ability and honed diligence allowed him to excel at his academic studies. However, Jonny's inherent people skills ensured that he was far removed from the stereotypical academic who lacks the ability to relate to others. Aside from his large circle of friends, his high level of proficiency in public speaking and project management were testament to this. Furthermore, his election as a student representative provided further demonstrable evidence of his ability to win the hearts and minds of his peers.
I know that Jonny will not only be a valuable asset to a team or project he is associated with, but also a faithful friend and confidant to those who work with him.
Jonny and I were both first-time teaching assistants for the Fall 2012 academic term. While we taught tutorials for different subjects, we were in regular contact with each other regarding school protocol and pedagogical techniques that we found were successful. Jonny is meticulous in his attention to lesson preparation and grading. He aimed to find creative ways to engage his students by making the course material relate to real world examples. His enthusiasm for teaching shone through everytime we spoke about it, and I imagine his students also saw that same enthusiasm in the classroom. He has been and remains an encouraging and supportive colleague whom I am privileged to know.
Jonny was a diligent worker who worked very well in groups, contributing to debates and showing good team-skills.
I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jonny as both a classmate and as a fellow Research Assistant during our time together at the University of Birmingham. He is an incredibly bright and driven individual who has that rare trait of being able to analyse and convey complex concepts to those of us without the same intellectual foundations as him. Moreover, with an easygoing demeanour and friendly approach Jonny is just as much fun to work with in the classroom as he is outside of it. Any business or organisation that can count Jonny as one their employees will have obtained a valuable individual who will make a great contribution to their workplace.
Jonny is a diligent student, efficient and hard working. He loves to think things through philosophically and apply matters to the real world in terms of politics, society etc.
Jonny is a creative, blue sky thinker who challenges the accepted wisdom with deep clarity and prophetic simplicity. I recommend him highly.
In his role as the director of one of our largest sections, Jonny was a superb leader. Gifted in managing people to get the job done as well as create a compelling sense of team that everyone wanted to be a part of.
I would highly recommend Jonny as an asset to any team or organization especially those working with youth.
Jonny brought energy and enthusiasm to his work. He often thought outside of the box, and led his committee with passion and vision. Jonny was always willing to step up to challenges and advocate for his members and staff.
