Nutrition and Fitness Training

For anyone who wants to lose weight, gain strength, complete a marathon, bicycle century, ocean swim, or triathlon, or just become more focused at work and feel less groggy....I will take all of your most ambitious (or ordinary!) performance goals and turn them into an actionable fitness and/or nutrition plan that can be accomplished by any mortal. We will take into consideration your previous fitness experiences, abilities, and unique background. You will be educated on the kind of results and performance to expect at various milestones across a specific timeline (e.g. "You will lose X% bodyfat in 3 months. You can aim for a 4-hour marathon finish time.)

In addition to guidance with a custom-tailored training plan (and weekly/monthly coaching calls if necessary to maximize accountability) to reach your goals in a realistic timeline, we will track your progress using objective, measurable means (e.g. timed 1-mile run for 5K runners, body composition and measurements for tracking fat loss, or swim stroke form and running gait technique videos for triathletes).

The difference between my coaching and other coaching approaches is that I will not assign you a training plan you cannot reasonably complete, given your existing routine and scheduless. I will also be mindful about your unique thought process and psychology, and be sure to call you out if I notice any self-destructive mindsets in your self-talk that would prevent you from accomplishing your goals. Mindset and good habits make up 80% of the game, in my experience coaching athletes and laypeople alike, and just having a training plan is not going to help if you can't get yourself up at 6am and going to the gym on schedule.

Bio: Janet's background in nutrition and fitness started with 13 years in competitive sports, as a 140.6-mile Ironman
triathlon finisher at age 18, and an Olympic hopeful for the Winter Olympic Games as a short track speedskater at age 24. After a tailbone injury took her away from competition at age 25, she has since studied and tested nutrition plans for long-term health, publishing a scientific paper and speaking at Stanford University about her research. She earned her Crossfit Lvl1 coaching certification to stay on the most recent training trends. Her clients have lost 40 lbs of fat, increased 40 lbs on their max bench press, finished their first marathons, and accomplished various other feats of physical performance. Janet's unique coaching style was recently featured in the book, "The Motivation Hacker" and "Lifehacker" Magazine.
